Why are they not? I feel like they should be mandatory.

Pretty sure the NBA has dental too so they dont even have to pay out of pocket.

it would be a really smart idea cause you never know who's gonna get elbowed in the face, and honestly it couldnt hurt its not like the league is instilling helmets its only a mouth guard

I don't think its so much about getting your teeth fixed as is the fact that it can be a danger to others. You are asking for an infection if human teeth puncture your skin (if your elbow hits someones teeth, etc...). It doesn't happen very often in the NBA at all, so I highly doubt they will make mouth guards mandatory.

they should, but not for sanitary reason, but to avoid stupid trash talking.

maybe there should be more emphasis on the safety of wearing a mouth guard, it seems like guys only start wearing one after they take a shot and lose a few teeth

but they are grown men they should get a chance to choose
