Bit of a shot at Trick or Treat, no?

Edit for those who don't know Trick or Treat is Tony Allen's old nickname

Edit #2: Gay also played with Mike Miller in his prime as well, as well as OJ Mayo

This seems like a shot at some of his Grizz teammates as well as a feeding of his teammate.

ok> demar.
now, last season, the season before that and within their respective careers.
I'd much rather have mayo/gay than derozan/gay. at least mayo has talent. oj is the better shooter, passer. defenfer, rebounder, playmaker, smarter player than demar.
okay, demar is more athletic... he wins THAT round.

If you're implying that Derozan has no talent, that's ridiculous. Also, Demar turns the ball over much less than OJ and he rebounds better. Neither of them are in any way elite defenders. Both average the same .3 blocks and similar steals numbers. So OJ isn't a better rebounder or smarter player... plus Demar's midrange and around rim game is as good as it gets in the NBA.

No problem with the comment and it might be true. However Mayo is a better player currently. And Tont defensively is right with what DeRoz brings all around.

no problem with this.

i personally think o.j mayo is overrated, even with his increase in numbers in dallas.

not saying derozan is great either, his inability to develop a 3 point shot by now is holding him back, but in terms of actual offensive output. I'd say he and O.J are closer than people think.

I actually think Ross would be a much better fit next to Gay because of his ability to stretch the floor.

regardless, the raps have some options going forward, either Derozan or Ross could be moved for a frontcourt piece in the future.

If Demar ever got a call when he takes it to the hoop it would help him ten fold. You can see he gets knocked around time and time again with no call, then starts to settle for long range jumpers.

Regardless, last night they all looked like they had fun and it was the first time in a LONG time that they played as well as they did.

Besides being a similar or slightly better rebounder and athlete. Demar is way better around the basket and mid game and in transition is excellent.

It's very close between the too, as a raptors fan I think OJ is a better fit with Rudy but Demar has more potential. He has to tighten his handles and extend his range a bit more, however, I would rather the three not become a key part of his game. He is best driving, in transition and mid range.

Demar had a good game last night and rudy is puttin it on a bit.

Offensively, DeRozan is certainly a better player than Miller and Allen. Mayo is debatable, but he was hella mediocre his last couple of seasons in Memphis. Regardless, I think everyone is overthinking this. This is less of a shot at former players and more of him trying to praise his new teammate after a big win.

HouRealCoach
02-02-2013, 11:58 AM
I can see if he's played next to Wade, Kobe, or Harden but OJ Mayo??? You all have to be kidding me, this isn't even thread worthy... Demar DeRozan is the better player, he just doesn't get the respect he deserves because of the team he is on, If he was on the Nets, Bulls, Clippers etc. he's be getting so much praise in this forum but of course none of you care about Toronto

Tony Allen is the worst Offensive SG in the NBA but the best on defense.

That's why they call him treat or trick.

Man, much respect to Rudy Gay. He was the best player on that team for so long and then they trade him like he's garbage and ruining their team. I hope he shows his true ability to play. Playing with Zach and Gasol with Conley starting to hog the ball really affected Gay's ability to play.

Raptors trade Ross and bargnani for smith, trade valancuinas, an a future pick to the the lakers. Howard takes a paycut and actually wins games.

Raptors then have no bench, and sign vets who want to play for a ring, vet minimum contracts.
We'll take Jermaine Oneal, Mickael Pietrus, matt barnes, and Another pg. done

You obviously don't know much about derozan his 3pt shoot is weak but is getting better and doesn't force it but his mid-range is great and is his biggest strength.

I don't think it's a crazy shot at his former teammates Miller, Mayo and Allen. It may be a quick jab but in all honesty it's kinda true. Besides Mayo's solid rookie year and decent second, OJ really fell off his last 2 years in Memphis.

Mike Miller was really good all-around as a Grizzly. But DeMar has the better upside and is coming around.

Tony Allen, an elite defender, isn't a solid all-around guy. He's pretty bad offensively and isn't a facilitator either.

I agree with Gay.

Im glad, its good when coaches tinker from the get go. Gay should play at least a third of his minutes at the 4, the defense might suffer but that seems to be the best way to max out a SF ability.

Firstly, it's not like Gay has played with an All-Star SG before. He didn't play with Kobe, or Wade or Jordan, so it's not that big of a compliment. Secondly Gay's only played one game with the guy. I'm sure the more he plays with him, the more short comings he will see. He's essentially saying DeRozen is better than Mayo and Allen.

Allen is an amazing defender. As for Mayo, I think it's fair to say that Mayo is a decent SG in the league and that DeRozen is comparable.

IversonIsKrazy
02-02-2013, 08:03 PM
Isn't it true? I mean DeMar is more skilled than Tony Allen, and mike Miller was simply a shooter. OJ was a guy who was never given the chance to excel in Memphis so yea, DeMar is the best 2 guard he's played with....
