It seems like most teams don't box out anymore on defense. Why dont coaches put more emphasizes on boxing out? I always thought it was a good defensive scheme on defense since it also helps with rebounding.

That would require something called "fundamentals." We have had that spirit here since 1969. But seriously, the NBA brand of ball today is more sports entertainment than an actual sport. The not boxing out goes well with the 4 steps to the basket, palming-galore, and "crab dribbles." Accept the fact that after the debacle of having "boring" teams like Pistons winning with defense the league changed into what it is today.

Because most teams put only 1 big on the floor. That way the others leak out as one person rebounds.

Because most teams don't care about getting the offensive rebound anymore because they want to rush back to play defense

I think part of it is because guys are so athletic and explosive now that they rely on that to rebound...I look at a guy like dwight howard who jumps so high that he can be lazier than other guys and not box out and still grab rebounds
