View Full Version : Reggie Evans: "Lebron's title means nothing. He's no different than Andray Blatche."

Wow... Oh Reggie. Please stop talking.

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/8897656/reggie-evans-brooklyn-nets-not-impressed-lebron-james-miami-heat-title

NEW YORK -- Apparently, Brooklyn Nets power forward Reggie Evans doesn't think much of the championship the Miami Heat won last season -- or superstar small forward LeBron James.

"It doesn't prove nothing. That was a lockout season," Evans told the New York Daily News on Wednesday when asked if beating the defending champs would prove something to the rest of the NBA.

The Nets and Heat face one another for the third and final time on Wednesday night at Barclays Center. Miami won the first two meetings between the two teams by a combined 43 points.

Interim coach P.J. Carlesimo called James "unguardable" on Tuesday. But it sounds as though Evans disagrees.

"Our team is defending the Miami Heat. If our team has to defend one person, LeBron isn't going to score nothing. LeBron is no different from Joe Johnson or Andray Blatche. No different," Evans told the Daily News. "People need help (on defense). Some people don't need help. Everybody has to be double-teamed, it doesn't matter who you are. You just have to stop LeBron in transition.

"He's quick in transition. If you look at Joe Johnson -- Joe Johnson has two or three people trying to stop him. Whoever is guarding him."

James went 6-10 in his first 16 games against the Nets' franchise, but has gone 16-0 since. He has scored at least 20 points in his last 19 games against the Nets, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

James said Tuesday he "wasn't losing any sleep" over playing in Brooklyn for the first time, according to the Miami Herald. But Evans' comments could make him more motivated to have a big night.

I try to discredit the Heat at every opportunity but I can't grasp the logic behind a lockout shortened season having an asteric. Was Miami the only team that played 66 games? It was a lockout season for everyone, it was NBA basketball on an even playing field, and the Heat won it all.

It becomes an even more ludicrous assertion when you consider that those 66 games were played over 124 days, versus the usual 82 games played over 170 days.

I think he means his title means nothing going into the game but as far as Lebrons legacy it means a lot since he was thought to disappear in the play-offs. I think Evans says this to pump himself and his team up. A while back DeShawn Stevenson did the same thing and Lebron embarrassed him.

I think the only teams the shortened scheduled would of helped were the older teams like Boston and the Lakers.

I think the way he said it is probably not exactly what he was trying to say cause Evans isn't the most articulate speaker so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt with that quote. He's selling LBJ short if he thinks JJ and LBJ are on the same level which I really don't think that's what he believes. Unless he really is crazy?

I think he was just comparing guys like JJ and Andray to LBJ in the sense that these guys and many others around the league all need to be doubled or they'll get a good shot off or be fouled. The way the league is with the touch fouls he's right only in the sense that LBJ is no different from alot of other guys in that he needs to be doubled constantly.

I think that what he as trying to say. Not that Blatche/JJ is on the same level as Lebron.

Edit: Not sure what he was getting at with the whole "title doesn't mean anything" thing. It means something maybe not to him cause he didn't win it but lockout or no lockout they still had to go through the playoffs as normal and win so they deserve credit for that.

Reggie Evans is a genius! This dude should get into marketing after he's done grabbing players nuts and looking like a homeless man on the court. Seriously though, he did peak my interest for this game now. I didn't think I was going to watch this game tonight but now I might just tune in to watch Lebron deliver a Cleveland Steamer via Miami on Brookyn's chest for Jay-Z to see. Either that or Lebron plays like Joe Johnson and Andray Blatche tonight like Evans said.

This is a big test for Brooklyn though with their new sense of purpose and play. Defending champs coming to town in the big city with everyone watching just to see how good they really are. Measuring stick game.

CRAZY!!! Is he insulting LBJ? Or complimenting his teammates Joe Johnson and Andre Blatche? I mean, if LBJ is not different than them, then the Nets have like big 4 or 5 or some $#!T like that! lol

Can we collectively as a site agree to start using "he's no different than Andray Blatche" as our insult of choice? Like let's say Peyton Manning loses in the playoffs next year. "He's no different than Andray Blatche." Arod bats .160 in the playoffs? "He's no different than Andray Blatche." Tony Romo throws four interceptions? "He's no different than Andray Blatche." Come on PSD, if we really work together we can make this happen.

TONIGHT:

Joe Johnson + Blatche- 28 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 6 turnovers, 9/20 shooting
LeBron James- 24 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 turnovers, 10/18 shooting.

Touche Evans, touche.

hard to believe he said that. Joe Johnson is as good as LeBron? hahah. and, a lockout title is exactly the same, everyone has the same chance & plays the same amount of games

the Spurs 1999 title is every bit as legit as their others imo. same goes for the Heat 2012

THat's because KD's ring would have meant that the Thunder would've had to go through the Mavericks, Lakers, Spurs, and then the Heat. Last year's Mavericks, Lakers, and Spurs were contenders. Last year's Knicks and Pacers were not

LOL When where the Mavericks and Lakers contenders last year...STFU.

A shortened season really does make it less impressive, borderline * worthy. But he sounded like an idiot.
