Allen Iverson: @alleniverson I thank Donnie and Dallas for the consideration and while I think the D-League is a great opportunity, it is not the route for me. I realize my actions contributed to my early departure from the NBA, should God provide me another opportunity I will give it my all. ... My dream has always been to complete my legacy in the NBA. To my fans, I love yall! Not a day goes by that I am not asked when am I coming back, we all must accept that my return is not up to just me.

Should Iverson went to the D-League?

Or

He Deserve better than that?

He should of went. If he proved he could still play, I think a couple of teams would have looked at signing him imo.

What a scrub... given an opportunity to polish his game and quite possibly be called up in as little as two weeks after playing 5-8 D-league games, and turns it down.

Arrogance tiptoes across the fine line between Ego and Stupidity.

double post >_<

He should flip burgers with Royce White, should he go all mental again once he gets another paycheck for reporting to the D-League.

I think there's more to it, I think he wants to make sure he goes to a title contender to win his ring.

I wish he would have taken it. The opportunity to get back into game shape and show people that he's still got it would have been perfect...

I like AI, he should have taken the offer, would have been a good opportunity route to return to the NBA.
Gotta put aside that ego sometimes man..

Let him wish lol, Miami doesn't need a guy like him.

Though he's a punk, I was always rooting for him to get his act together and hopefully get back on an NBA team as a 6th man. No way that's happening now. This is a red flag for any NBA team that would have even the smallest interest in signing him.

I highly doubt iverson wrote that himself, based on the fact that I was able to read and understand it.

Damn, I love Iverson. But this dude is so poorly self managed.
He really wants to ONLY play at the NBA level. He should have went for a couple weeks, shown that he could so something and then a NBA team might have given him a couple 10 days. Tickets sales go up, the contracts become guaranteed.

I'd say he's a scrub in the same sense that Tracy McGrady is a scrub.

Yes like we've never been able to understand him before. When has AI ever been a person you couldn't understand. Highly emotional, prideful, confident at times but you can still understand what he's saying. I get so tired of people like you that stereotype people without really knowing what you are talking about. OK blahblahbooboo.

For all the people saying he should've taken the opportunity because he's such a scrub would probably be the first ones to say "well look at his career now." AI just can't win. :pity:

He has no leverage and needs to realize its 2013 not 2003. There's a reason he never won a title, he's most selfish player of his era. Go file bankruptcy and stop pretending a contender needs your services.

xxplayerxx23

The dleague is stupid for him. The meh players down there prove nothing. If a team wanted him they would sign him outright.

Umm... Ai won the MVP in 2001. I'd say thats better than ANYTHING Tmac ever has done.

He also led a team full of hasbeens, nobody's and role players to the NBA Finals.

Again, better than ANYTHING TMAC as ever done.

A.I is FAR from broke. He will receive approximately 50 mil or so when he's in his 50's.

I know damn well who AI is, he's a punk little scrub that ruined his career with a bad attitude that couldn't be coached by any team because of his hyperinflated ego and cluelessness of his own real self worth.

So before you go preaching on how old people are, you should consider how well my 33 year old foot might fit up your backside because your comment was equally as scrubbish as his attitude towards a golden opportunity he wasted.

Hey AI:

Your opportunity was to take the chance being given you to prove yourself in the NBADL. No NBA team in their right mind would just sign you, at your age for as long as you've been out of the game, without proving yourself first.

I saw that very classy quote by Iverson at the top and expected (honestly, hoped) that afterwards there would have been something like "is what he should have said, now here's the actual quote..."

Iverson's decision makes no sense without the implied admission of being far past "ready to return" to the NBA. He knows he can't hack it, won't set himself up to fail, etc., or, as other's have suggested, his ego is unchecked.

I think it's a combination of both. Stupid call in any case.

He was tested and he failed miserably. Going to the Dleague is not about his ability to play but his willingness to show that he can be a team player.

We all .know that he can ball.

Because winning MVP means you're the best player in the league right?

Because Derrick Rose was better than Lebron when he won his MVP?
Or MJ was only the best player in the league for 5 years....

Or Steve Nash was a more dominate player than, Kobe, Shaq, CP3.
Because you win MVP, doesn't mean you deserved it.

no he doesn't. if he did, he would've accepted the offer. but nope...ego got in the way again. and in the end, he's only hurting himself because he's not getting any younger.

Allen is in no position to be rejecting offers if he wants to play in the NBA. I don't know who the hell he think he is but playing in the d-league is far more suited for him than the NBA.

Those are two totally different mindsets a player cant possibly be in both. but i assure you AI is a good enough player still that there are not 200 or so Guards better than him in the NBA right now there is no reason from an ability standpoint that he shouldn't be in the NBA right now his his precived attitude keeping him out.
