Gasol has his swag back

Kobe is playing PG. And he's better than Rondo at it.

Oh and he is still the ultimate closer.

MWP should be in the 3 pt contest.

Dwight has finally sucked it up and is playing hard

Lakers are back. Haters beware and get scared. 8th seeded champions.

 I'll admit that they looked good today, but how many good games have they had this year where it looked like they would turn it around only for them to fall flat on their faces the next game and go on a losing streak? They beat the best team in the NBA tonight, but they have a LONG way to go before they can even be in the playoff discussion. They're four games out of 8th place with two teams ahead of them and two teams with nearly identical records fighting for the same spot.

Bottom line, they need to show some consistency and string together more wins before we can analyze much of anything about this game today.

NFLNBA
01-27-2013, 07:28 PM
They do look like they have turned a corner. Beat 1 good team and maybe the best team in NBA with Kobe playing PG. Its smart because Nash is easily their best shooter so he is spoting up. Jamison and Gasol both have come off bench and played good and Clark is a very good young player, good defender and great hustle.

They have a long ways to go but if this continues they could be most dangerous 8th or 7th seed EVER. They still need to trade in a couple days as his value rises and get a bench scorer and a big to fill his spot.

D-Leethal
01-27-2013, 07:29 PM
Its still going to be extremely hard to make the playoffs. They really gotta be the best team for the entire second half by a large margin to make it.

Very good post. While they have had a big game here and there it was never against good talent let alone best team in NBA. Also this is 2 straight games with exact same play.

Their next 8 games are against medicore - decent teams so lets talk about this stretch they have where they SHOULD make their ground back up

The Lakers are better without Dwight Howard. :hide:. The most effective line up for the Lakers IMO is Nash-Kobe-MWP-Clark-Pau but if you don't give D12 his touches he goes and prints a stat sheet then whines to the whole team about not getting touches.

if the lakers have a balanced attack and let kobe do work on a few plays and not majority of the plays, the lakers have the potential to be scary.

not for long

If they go on a five game winning streak and two teams go on four and five games losing streaks I agree.

lol

There is no way we are "back" with 6 games under .500. Ask me again when we at least become the 8th seed.

No.
This. Durant and Westbrook were terrible and OKC still almost won

It's ironic because Lakers fans are always talking about how little the regular season matters, then they get a little 2 game win streak in the regular season and they start getting hype about it.

It's not about winning 2 straight...It's about how they won. Anyone that knows anything about basketball and has watched this team play all season can clearly see that they have figured something out these past two games. It's like watching a whole new team and if they can keep this up, I can comfortably say that they will make the playoffs and contend for a title. Game on.

OP gives a reason for people to hate on LAL. As soon as they start losing, you guys are going back to your cave and will stay quiet until they win another game.

Yeah it had absolutely nothing to do with our defense

You're way ahead of yourself. Winning the eight spot is one thing. Beating OKC in a 7 game series? Lmao.

It didn't actually. Westbrook was missing wide open shots.

Every single shot that he missed was a wide open shot.

No, those titles are still there today. They didn't dissapear. History books last forever, first you have to have something good enough to make it there. I wasn't bashing the Warriors lol, I was simply being truthful, I didn't say the Warriors are terrible today, I said in the past they have been known for losing, That's all I meant.

Well then maybe you can get those 16 titles and hope they can help you sneak into the playoffs because as long as Mike D is the coach I doubt the Lakers do much.

lol...these haters are funny. Can't even give us any credit.

The refs were clearly babying Durant all game long. 14 FT attempts...lol. Without the refs helping Durant, this game would not even have been close.

Westbrook just turned into Westbrick. Dude shoots 40% from the field so I don't know why anyone is surprised by his horrible shooting performance today.

People seem to forget that we have some of the best defensive players in the league in Dwight, Metta and Kobe. Now with Clark, we have an added defensive punch. Even with D'Antoni's horrible defensive insights, we are still capable of stopping the best in the game. Except for Miami of course because the refs wouldn't let anyone breath on Wade or Lebron a few weeks ago when we played them.

Kobe has not been good defensively for two years now.

Kobe has not been good defensively for two years now.

He hasn't been as good, but he is still capable and has a very high basketball IQ to compensate.

its to early to say that they can win it all but with the talent they have i would not want to face then in the first round. If they are in 8th and you are in 1st it might be wise to loose a game or two on purpose.

Kobe not being a good defensive player for two years now means he is incapable of being a good defender in the future. Makes sense.

Yes, especially considering age and coach.

He has been horrible defensively this year. Stop being a homer.

You can not be a good defender but still have a good defensive night like Kobe had against OKC. What you said is a logical fallacy.

When given tough defensive assignments like Irving and Jennings, he came through. It's more of an effort thing, doesn't mean he is incapable.

Hate to ruin the troll fest you guys are enjoying and the Mods who just let it slide but this should have been closed since the first post. Stop trolling fan bases, or use the team forums if this is actually your opinion.
