Kyrie, and he'll actually make them that much more dangerous since he can shoot. I think he actually has a shot to win the All-star MVP.

Irving. and Brook Lopez makes the team?

Lopez/Smith?

or do they bring on a Nets guard Deron Williams or Joe Johnson?

Irving should start.

Brook BETTER replace him. Don't put in a non-deserving guard.

I agree that Irving should start in his place AND that a non-deserving guard should not be awarded his spot, though I would suggest that either Lopez, or Josh Smith are deserving of the spot opened up by him.

I think Lopez is insanely more qualified. Smith might be the second most qualified guy, but I don't think he's terribly close to Brook. Brook is a huge snub. Usually I don't care about snubs because someone will always be snubbed, but Lopez has to be in this game. Period.

Nah. Irving has been better than Holiday. You can bring up the team success, but Irving plays on a terrible team, and that's not his fault. I tend to not use that against players. Swap Irving for Holiday and Cleveland isn't any better.

Irving is a more efficient scorer (usually the player on the lesser team will be less efficient). They are about equal rebounders. Holiday is passing better, but again, how much of that has to do with teammates? Irving has a better PER and more win shares. Really, all that favors Holiday are his passing numbers and his team success. Since I don't care much about the latter when comparing individuals, I'm not at all convinced Holiday is having a better year.

This.

Kyrie should and will start. The assists differential is misleading. Kyrie's supporting cast is much weaker than Hollidays, I can't tell you how many times a game he makes an amazing pass to Gee or Zeller just to see them brick it. If you put Irving on the Sixers or any significantly better team than the Cavs he'd be averaging double digit assists. Holliday is good, Irving is the second best true PG in the game and is in the running for most clutch player in the game today

Should be Brook, but watch it be one of Williams/Jennings/Smith. I really wouldn't mind if it is any of these guys except for Jennings. Williams has been taking A LOT of hate this year which he should, but the guy is quietly playing a lot better. Has a decent PER and a high WS/48. Probably has been playing better than Rondo this year, but no one will listen to that argument even if his stats show it because of how much everyone loves Rondo despite him being incredibly overrated. I am happy for Kyrie/Holliday. Both have been studs this year and both deserve to start way more than Rondo does.

"A PG gets hurt and I STILL can't get in"

I know he's in the west, but if this (heavens forbid ) was Parker or WB, he'd be next in line.

Stephen Curry would've had a chance to start in the East to be honest. Kyrie and Rondo are the only two players better.

That's not how it works. They can pick any other player they want. Deron Williams and Teague? I don't see what they've done to prove themselves. Brook Lopez and PP deserve it more than anybody else from the East.

I can't see the East rolling with just Kyrie/Holliday as the PG's.
But if they choose Lopez I'm happy, it's about time they get these selections right.

Lopez should replace him.

warfelg
01-28-2013, 10:09 AM
Who should replace him and who will are two really different questions.

Should: Lopez, then maybe JSmooth.

Will: DWill (face of a premiere franchise, no way he gets left out), Jennings

Face it we all know that in the all-star game Stern replaces position with position.

As for start...thats interesting. Start the only guy in the NBA averaging 19 & 9 or Irving? I really am torn. I just say Jrue out of the fact that not only is he putting up big scoring numbers, he is putting up some impressive assist numbers to boot.

It's going to be DWill because of the position need and Kyrie will start because of all the hype, overhype he gets. Him starting the all star will get him that much more exposure as the NEXT superstar player and with all the people that buy and wear his jersey already it'll be perfect for $tern. I just explained why Deron would make sense. He plays the same position as Lopez and how is Lopez more deserving. They guy averages 7 rebounds. For a 7 footer that is pretty poor. Lopez should be considered but to say he more deserving than Williams or anyone else isn't true.

you'd think so. but how about jrich, nick young, and dorell wright all shooting worse from 3pt than evan turner?

using your logic, jrue should be averaging 15 apg. i can't tell you how many times spence or lavoy have missed easy layups or wright and young have bricked wide open threes. and thad young certainly doesn't get you easy buckets, every shot he makes is unorthodox, he can't shoot the midrange to save his life.

so the "better" supporting cast = better stats argument for jrue is utter ********. if you've watched the sixers this year, you'd realize this.

edit;

sixers are 27th in team scoring
cavs are 19th.

jrue has to do EVERYTHING in order for us to stay in games. im sorry but the better supporting cast argument is moot.
