View Full Version : In hindsight, was Shaq right about Lopez and Blake Griffin being better then Dwight?

Blake Griffin and Brook Lopez have been producing for their teams at extreme levels, while Howard is not performing as he should.

01-26-2013, 02:28 PM
yeah they're better than an injured howard.

Blake sucks

If Shaq was right he got lucky. Just one of his many Dwight Howard hate comments that stuck.

 I'm guessing he was right about Deandre Jordan being better than Dwight also huh?

Dwight is still the best big man in the NBA

They're both white and have curly hair. So no.

Blake Griffin is white?

01-26-2013, 03:11 PM
No he was wrong

01-26-2013, 03:30 PM
100% Lopez & Griffin are better than a 75% Dwight Howard, so yes Shaq you're right, idk where you get this wisdom from! Im guessing a combination of jealousy and knowing that Dwight just came off of a huge injury has made Shaq look "smart"

01-26-2013, 03:32 PM
Dwight is still better than both.

x2. and it's by a long shot.

No. He absolutely was not.

Dwight is having a horrible start, yet he's still putting up 17 and 12, with 2.5 blocks a game. Griffin has gotten better, but Howard's defense is astronomically better than the other two, even at 70% or whatever you think he's at...

Half a season of poor play doesn't change the fact that he's better.

They might be better offensive players even when Dwight is healthy (maybe), but defense matters and Dwight is an absolute game changer.

01-26-2013, 03:59 PM
not a Howard fan... but dude is coming off trading I ending back surgery. Act like if they get in the playoffs teams want to play them.

01-26-2013, 04:21 PM
Dwight has always had zero post moves, but he is a superior rebounder and defensive player. Still, do you think teams are scared to play the Lakers (or Magic back in the day) because Dwight Howard is clogging the lane? No way! He's always been overrated in my opinion. Plus, he is a liability down the stretch because he is so inept at the free throw line.

01-26-2013, 05:02 PM
Howard is, and has always been, limited offensively. Nobody doubts that and I think most people would agree with Shaq that Lopez had a better offensive game (and Bynum as well). What makes Howard so valuable is his rebounding and defense. Now, the Lakers are playing poorly on the defensive end, but he's leading the league in rebounding this season (even if his numbers are slightly down) and he is among the blocks leaders.

The Lakers are playing poorly as a team, but Dwight's performance is still an all-star performance in the this league. He's still the best C in the league, though the margin is not as wide as it has been in the past. But yes, there are a great many of big men who have better offensive games than Dwight.

Kazaam was right. Not Shaq.

01-26-2013, 05:39 PM
Not a fan of Dwight, But he's better than Lopez & Blake

01-26-2013, 06:10 PM
Howard not performing as he should is still averaging better numbers than Brook and Blake. Brook has no defense and can't rebound. Blake can't rebound and can't score without a pass. Shaq is stupid. He thought a team full of PG's can beat a well orchestrated team just due to the fact that PG's are quicker. What an idiot!

Blake Griffin is white?

01-26-2013, 06:42 PM

01-26-2013, 07:25 PM
the thing is. dwight is not healthy yet he still puts up better number and is a way betten defense. dont bring up lakers D sucks because thats the coaches problem.

and can you fu cking imagine dwight with CP3 or deron? nasty!

01-26-2013, 07:32 PM
IDK if this has been brought up yet but Shaq repeatedly calls him Robin Lopez with someone (usually Jet) having to whisper "Brook" to him. Always find that funny.

BTW-Shaq's a great character and was great for the game but he's just brutal to watch, especially when he's always gotta talk himself up. Shaq, we know how great you were, no need for all that and you're killing the comedic aspect and general chemistry of a fantastic NBA program.
