View Full Version : What would the Ultimate Dream Team look like?

If the 92 Dream team were suddenly open to accept players from any generation to build the ultimate dream team....what would it look like? I imagine they would be able to have:

A starter unit
A fastbreak unit
all defensive unit

I'm guessing that Jordan would be on it.

Bird, Scottie Pippen, Kareem, Shaq or Hakeem..
maybe some shooters like Reggie Miller.

Some great players styles don't always fit together..... and maybe some super sub role players like Dennis rodman or Robert Horry could be in?

I don't know, but give my Jordan, Pippen and Russell, and I'm pretty much set.

PG and PF would have to work with/around those three. 6th man would be Kevin McHale.

That is quite a defensive trio. Probably could shut down quite a few teams.

Personally? Only American Players? 12 man roster?

Not just going 100% top 10 players in the game my team would be...

Stockton/Payton
MJ/Reggie
Pippen/Kobe
Bird/Lebron(primary ball handler)
Kareem/Shaq

Duncan (big that can effectively play both spots) and Rodman (situational defensive specialist that can guard any position)

In reality though it'd look a lot like

Stockton/Payton/Lebron/MJ/Kobe
MJ/Reggie/Kobe/Pippen/Payton
Pippen/Kobe/Lebron/Bird/Rodman
Bird/Lebron/Duncan/Rodman/Pippen
Kareem/Shaq/Duncan/Rodman

I valued versatility a lot in my team.

if they are all the same age or in their prime.. id go with:

Magic/Payton/
Jordan/ Kobe/ Wade
LeBron/ Bird/ Pippen
Duncan/ Malone/ Barkley
Kareem/ Russell/ Shaq

[B] good luck scoring.

I'd definitely want Magic, Jordan and Hakeem in my starting unit. At the forward spots, I'm thinking Bird and Lebron. That's a phenomenal offensive and defensive squad who could do pretty much anything on the floor. Or you could put Hakeem at the 4 and Shaq at the 5 with Lebron coming off the bench as an insanely versatile sixth man. I'd stock my bench with shooters and defenders. I'm thinking Kareem, Russell, Duncan and Rodman at the big spots (maybe Dirk if I wanted range at the 4) with Pippen, Allen, Reggie and West at the wing spots and Oscar and Stockton at point.

Full court press teams couldn't even get pass half court. Game would be over in 2 mins.

Not to mention you could also go with a line up of

Wade
Kobe
Jordan
Lebron
Shaq

Lebron as the primary ball handler. That Line up is unstoppable. If all players are in there prime their also unguardable. Wade and Lebron are a problem. So was shaq and Kobe imagine together and add MJ into the mix.

yup you could basically set yourself up in countless ways. inside-out, playmaking, attacking the rim, post fade aways, etc. i see no weakness.

If you were going to have the fastest high flying fast break unit, what would that look like? Would Shawn Kemp and Dominique Wilkens make the cut?

Jordan/Reggie Miller/Bird/ power forward/Kareem

great spacing with great 3 point shooters along with a great shooting big man, plus the greatest player to every play the game.

sf KD ( His my 3 point assassin )
Pf Timmy
C The Dream ( I would have said Shaq but, I wanted both of my bigs to have that mid rage game, to space the floor ).
Talk about defense and skill set!

Jordan and KD pure scores... Lbj at the point, totally devastating with the way he can see over the defense and get the ball where it needs to go ( they have to double him or it's an easy score )... Timmy and the Dream, pic & pop, back to the basket, face you up, mind range game, blocking shots, I mean damn!

1st unit would wreak havoc, causing tons of turnovers and would be absolutely unstoppable on fast breaks. Second unit would be a grind it out, punish you in the post(with any player on the roster, even Payton).

Which unit would be more dominating?

A high powered offensive unit that can space the floor:

Kareem
Malone
Bird
Jordan
Reggie Miller

or an all defensive unit that can rotate and shut guys down, but might not have as great of 3 point shooting to space the floor?

Hakeem
Rodman
Pippen

I like the second unit. Might not be as fun to watch, but that defense and rebounding would be too hot to handle. GP, MJ, and Hakeem would handle the scoring quite nicely, as well.

this is what my team would look like:

Starters

PG - Magic Johnson
SG - Michael Jordan
SF - Scottie Pippen (over Larry bird for his defense)
PF - Tim Duncan
C - Hakeem

Bench

6th Man - Lebron James....most versatile 6th man ever
John Stockton
Kobe Bryant
Kevin Durant (for his 3s)
Karl Malone
Kareem
Larry Bird

the starters are all great defenders. and when they go to a bench, a great offensive players will replace them. the other team will never get a break...their starters will get worn down and bench players outgunned.

First Unit:
PG- Magic
SG- Jordan

So many combinations you can make, but I will take those 10 guys in their prime.Every one of them could give you 30 ppg, and with those perimeter defenders and rim protectors..I think their D would be just as impressive.
