I was watching the Heat game last night with my gf and shes a Heat fan(knicks not playing)...we was wondering why Wade was not in the game down the stretch. I said he had to be hurt or in foul trouble because he would not be on the bench in crunch time.

To my surprise he was benched by Sproelstra....what do we make of this? Wade didnt appear happy about benching benched.

I wouldn't call it bench.

The players who started the 4th, lebron, ray, joel, rio and lewis were just playing really well and helped bring miami back from 22 points down to 3 points down, spo just kept them in since they were playing well.

Nothing to make of it. Was actually impressed with Spo for sticking to the unit that got them back into the game. That's what a coach is supposed to do. You don't just play someone cause of who they are all the time. Especially when they're struggling. You play whoever is playing the best basketball, especially when you've got all the momentum and are getting back into the game.

He wasn't benched, he was too tired from banging Star Jones the night before. He had to come out after the 3rd.

wish he hada went to wade late, that backcourt violation save attempt by bosh was pathetic, awful miss on a wide open 3 by shard, and then allen lettin gordon hayward abuse him late. I needed that game to be within 5 points and i woulda won big money haha just adds to my hatred for the miami heat i guess lol , oh and they totally gave up down 7 with ten seconds left, it was me being selfish but i was sour haha and stranger things have happened

This lineup played liked they gave a damn about the game. Wade and Bosh were trash. That simple. Good job Spo.

I agree with the move. You stick with the guys that brought you back into the game.

Just because a unit gets you back in the game doesnt mean they can close. No future Hall of famer wants to be benched in crunch time. Will keep an eye on this.

If there's one thing I've ever taken issue with in regards to Spo, is that he sometimes gets too caught up into his own rotation patterns. It's good to see that he stuck with the guys that brought the Heat back into the game.

You'd be wasting your time. Wade's been getting away with poor effort defensively for too long now, and why would Spo tinker with something that's working? Makes no sense.

lets hope bosh and wade take notice and play up to par.

Ballsy move by the coach. Whether it was the right move or not, its always a tough move to bench a player of Wade's caliber.

Props to Spo.

I dont watch the Heat regularly but I saw Wade play lights out defense against the Mavs ....came up with a great steal and finish dunk to seal the game. But the way most of you are defending Sproelstra makes me think something is going on with him and coach.

Wade didnt look happy about being on the bench in a loss.

you mean that game where he tackled Dirk and he fell, but the refs didn't bat an eyelash, and that's why he had an open dunk?

Actually that's the lineup that made the game competitive. And had lebron not try and do to much at the end the outcome might have been different.

Exactly. It was a two point game and he starts chucking threes and other bad shots. Our rebounding was pitiful at the end as well, they must've had a 1 minute possession with 3 minutes left or so because we failed to rebound..

oh no doubt. riley needs to sit down with bosh and tell him to man the **** up and don;t cry to the media like a little *****. Anyways, bosh has always been the softest guy on this team, both physically and mentally.

I love the move. Wade has been a liability on defense this season. Also... Wade can't take anyone off the dribble anymore. Majority of Wade's points come off back screens, post moves, and fast breaks.

Lol....its a true story man.. no brag...if shes not watching the game with me...Wade wouldn't have come up. I really dont give a **** but had to tell how i came about the thread. Thought it was interesting that as a non heat fan I observed that one of the best players in the NBA was on the bench at the end of the game and didnt know why.

Spoelstra won a chip now so hes feeling his oats i guess.

Im gone to bed ....i really miss the old PSD layout....especially the blue and orange in the Knicks forum.:(

either wade wasn't playing well

bosh isn't rebounding

the bench made the comeback

or spoelstra trying to imitate popovich

i can see what spo was trying to do by going with the five guys that got you back in the game. but he rode the hot hand too long and they didn't have enough left to close it out. he should of brought wade and bosh back in down the stretch no question. wade did absolutely nothing to deserve being benched, in fact he ended up tied with haslem for the team lead in rebounding without playing the 4th quarter. this in a game where they got out rebounded by 17 and needed every one badly. also 5/11 shooting with 4 ast is definitely not bench worthy. the case could be made a bit for bosh with only the 1 rebound, but he was shooting well at least.

If it wasn't for Howard missing those layups & fts Lakers could have won. Lakers fans shouldnt be mad about anything Heat barely beat them and Lakers havent even figured out how to play together yet

Another biased Laker fan watching one part of the game. The heat were shooting horribly from the outside all game. Are you blind? Miami's D was consistent their offense wasn't Lakers never had a chance. Wade was shutting Kobe down all game. Kobe barely started getting loose in the 4th quarter. Too late to do anything. Sigh biased fans only state whats beneficial to them smh.
