View Full Version : James Dolan continues to screw up now with "Knickstape"

Two audio technicians were stationed at two corners of the court - one a few feet just behind the Knicks bench, the other diagonally opposite - and they were holding those umbrella-shaped contraptions known as parabola microphones, which fed the audio into a DAT recorder on the truck on the loading dock.

These guys had one directive from Dolan: Record every syllable Carmelo Anthony utters and absorbs while he's on the court and on the bench, the Madison Square Garden CEO ordered them, and send the tape directly to me.

Someone was bound to post it. So I did it to save the hater talk. What's everyone's opinion on this? Melo told the news it was over and done with and now his owner is recording court talk? if I'm the other team this owner just pulled the ***** card out.

you want me to post something that may be interpreted as negativity there? It's not really a Knicks news. It's a James Dolan is an idiot news, he's an NBA owner so that's why I put it in the NBA forum.

Who cares anyway? NBA forum isn't exactly a place of sharing ideas, its a cesspool.

I don't get the logic. What is his ultimate goal here? Is he trying to protect Melo?

What a terrible owner he is. At least he dumps money into his teams cause otherwise he'd be hands down the worst in sports.

That's what I was thinking. The trenches is where the talk is. How many NBA players haven't said what was said in the game is personal. Now you have an owner w/ an umbrella recording everything said on the court? I mean WTF? for what?

Is Dolan really that curious to hear everything Melo says during a game? It's got to be just killing Dolan to not know what Melo and KG said to each other during that game...

Ugh. Come on Dolan. Watch Dolan try to trade Carmelo for someone like Gasol. The best thing about Dolan is his willingness to spend, but the worst thing is literally everything else. It's like he goes out of his way to screw up the team.

It's likely that this isn't that big of a deal, but if it's true, and I were Carmelo, I'd be extremely pissed at this.

You think Melo or any opposing player wants an owner recording his every word on the court? And again for what?

They do it all the time.

Ferry was the one who got Rondo suspended the last time, by sending in a personal recording.

Carmelo Anthony appreciates support

LONDON -- Carmelo Anthony has no problem with New York Knicks owner James Dolan recording his conversations on the basketball court.

The team's owner ordered technicians at Madison Square Garden to install microphones at either end of the court for last Friday's game against the Chicago Bulls in the wake of the recent trash-talking incident involving Kevin Garnett that led to Anthony's one-game suspension.

League sources have told ESPN that the move was undertaken to protect Anthony, to see if opponents' trash talk was crossing the line, rather than "spying" on him.

And the player involved insists he has no problem with Dolan's decision.

"I got an owner that looks out for me," Anthony said at the Knicks' practice Wednesday in London.

"You can't beat that for an owner to try to protect their players, to protect his players. It just shows how much loyalty Mr. Dolan has."

The Knicks take on the Detroit Pistons on Thursday at London's 02 Arena, the venue where Anthony and Team USA won gold in last year's Olympics.

Returning to the British capital has brought all the good memories flooding back for Anthony, a two-time gold medalist who says the approach he took to readying himself for his last trip to London has been a big factor in his MVP-level play this season.

"I put in a lot of work to prepare myself for the Olympics, with offseason training and things like that," said Anthony, who is second in the league in scoring at 29.3 points per game.

"So this is where my mindset and my focus really started, here in London."

I'm just curious if those mics can pick up what's going on during timeouts/huddles from the opposing team. I imagine they could. Stupid move in the end, imo. KG has said some worse things before to other players (see: Villanueva) and you don't see them needing to be mic'd up.
