I remember her from Total Request Live, she was awesome. I'm actually very surprised how Melo can perform while fasting, very impressive.

This shouldn't be a big deal. Fasting right now isn't even that hard this time of year, he breaks his fast at 4:40ish. Really only affects for the day games

Fasting isnt really all that bad for your body. On a macro scale it can actually be an anti aging practice as well

I'd get too thirsty during games

Fasting doesnt necessarily mean he eats or drinks nothing. It's not like Melo is muslim and observing Ramadan. He probably cut out some meat or carbs. Nonetheless it is still really impressive although he needs to get back to playing ball.

Or maybe he is going to be the next LJ? lol

But he has had a great season so far and is dealing with the NY media fairly well. Maybe Stat needs to start carrying some of the media load lol.

Knicks all day!

Why is this weird my church fasts all the time.

I'm almost positive he did this in Denver two years ago in the month of January also. He had a great month too. This isn't some new thing for him.

Carmelo is a professional athlete. They typically require more energy from food than the average person. This obviously varies from sport to sport though. He likley does not go the whole day without eating but his body probably needed some time to get used to the lesser level of energy he has been consuming during his fasting.
Edit: If he does it every year then the adjustment period may not be as long as it might be for normal person.

Melo's fasting just means that he didn't eat any meat or carbs. I've done this a few times for weeks and it basically cleans the built up crap in your body. You can eat fruits and vegetables and plenty of liquids. It's actually good for you in moderation.

Very irresponsible, and unhealthy for an athlete who needs energy to do his job he's getting paid millions for....

He aint eating regular fruits and veggies. He gets his bananas from a special island off the coast of the Phillipines, cultivated from a tree grown from the seed crapped out and fertilized by the dung of a hybrid cat-owl. They're very high in potassium, that **** is expensive.

I'm actually surprised that he's blaming his eating habits for his poor performances.

When I go for weeks at a clip eating only fruits, vegetables and nuts/seeds, I drop almost all of my unwanted body fat and my energy is through the roof. Then I eventually give in and eat normal again and my energy depletes. I'm telling you guys, the crap that these companies put in the food that we eat is bad for the human body. We get physically addicted to it like heroin.

He's shooting 35% over his last 3 games:

9-25
14-32
6-26

Fasting sounds like a terrible idea. Professional athletes are burning 5K calories a day or more.

Ditto, except you could try to keep it more sustainable by still eating grass fed/finished meat, exchanging table salt with real crystal salt and just try to avoid anything that comes in a box. If people ate better, our entire society would change for the better in so many ways. Knowing that, it's actually sad to me how ridiculous our diets here are.

You need food to replenish the energy you burn. Why do you think guys like Phelps eats a crazy amount during training.

Melo needs to eat smarter not less. If this is something he recently started then he needs to change cause he's been shooting terribly as of late.
