What kind of analyst admits this, let alone a former Laker? Embarrassing.

People actually thought Magic could be a good analyst? I'd rather Skip Bayless

He's a "face" to an organization (lakers and dodgers), nothing more. Dont expect him to be a john hollinger with advanced stats or to be able to name every player on every roster. He's just a rich dude who played as an nba pointguard for the lakers (a great pg at that) that invested his money wisely after retirement. He's become an ambassador to the sport in a sense now, just like Tommy Lasorda.

At the end of the day, he's just a cool regular dude who made many right moves in his life to put him at his current position.

He also most likely made that comment to make the point that the lakers are playing a bunch of d-league scrubs (sacre, morris, earl clark, etc..) since all the starters (except for nash/kobe are injured). Im sure he knows who these laker scrubs are off the record.

Agree. Just like shaq, i dont think anyone had high expectations for them as analysts.

They're fun to look at and listen to their wild offhand comments, thats about it.

Yup. It's fun for a while, but it wears off quickly. I don't watch TNT any more really because of Shaq. I don't watch much of ESPN's stuff because of Wilbon and Magic. It sucks. Oh well. I guess I'm in the minority...or else they'd change it.

It's worse in the NFL. People are actually excited for Ray Lewis as an analyst. Yikes...

Magic should definitely be blamed for this, he's a paid analyst who is supposed to be a Lakers fan as well. I didn't hear the whole statement, so maybe it's out of context, but it's embarrassing if he really doesn't know around half the team.

And you named 11 guys, which is much more than half.

He always talks about what the Lakers did or didn't do to lose the game. It's never about how the other team actually beat the Lakers.

Hey Magic, the Lakers aren't very good.

If you said half the Lakers don't know who Magic is then maybe we would have a decent topic.

I don't know how stars can be such bad analysts. This is the only sport that its unbearable. I don't like Barkley, Shaq, or Johnson. MLB analysts, NFL analysts, all much better.

He was just voicing his frustration and trying to be clever. Magic is a Laker lifer. He knows damn well who everyone on the roster, to coaching staff, to F.O is.

He has a life.

He's not like people on this site who spend their lives playing 2K13, looking at NBA rosters and trying to fiddle with NBA Trade Machine.

He's still technically the VP of basketball operations so yeah it's bad in that sense, but anyone who remembers his talk show knows he ain't never been a good tv personality

No offense to Magic, but there's a reason they did skits like this on him. :laugh2:
