Just a question.

Clips winning a title. Suns have never had a #1 pick in their history which included bad years.
Lakers don't have bad years.

Silly stuff. The Clippers even if both might take lightyears from now.

If the Lakers became a lottery team I could definitely see the ping pong balls going their way.

Clippers winning a championship.... because they just might do it this year.

But that said, some teams have never won a championship yet, while other teams have never had the first pick.

I could see a scenario where Howard goes to another team this off-season, Kobe and Gasol walk after next season to go to a contender, and Nash is traded so the Lakers can rebuild. Every team hits that bump in the road at some point.

really?

Lakers have missed playoffs twice since 1980.

the highest picks those were Eddie Jones and Bynum, neither of them top 5.
They were back in the playoffs the folowing season.

lets say howard walks.

Then Pau/kobe/artest expire.

Guess what, top FA in 2014 and 15 will make a queue and sell their ***** to sign for L.A

if the lakers finish with a crap season this year, then I could see David Stern fixing something up to keep the Lakers relevant.

See a trend? it NEVER STOPS.Yes but only about 10-15 of those years have had a salary cap and zero years have a hard luxury tax like now. The luxury tax will stop that trend. There will be no more 50 year dynasties. Every team will have to re-build, not just get handed great players. It's just not possible in todays NBA. Even for its most sacred team.

That said, the Clipps will win a title before the Lakers get the 1st pick. I think CP3 and Blake will win a title together and I don't see the Lakers turning into a lottery team. I think there is a long road a head for fans of the Lakers who expect Championships, but the team will competitive as long as they have Bryant and Howard.

The Buss family will pay as much as it is needed to win games. They make way more than they would spend.

It's not that, the rules are more restrictive. Luxury tax teams can't participate in Sign and Trade deals. I guess it's possible, but it's going to be a hell of a lot harder. I also don't think you are correct about your statement. The tax ain't no joke anymore. I think I've even heard rumblings that Lakers are looking to cut payroll.

The Lakers are the type of team that if they ever had a terrible season and was close to the worst record, Stern would make sure they get the number 1 pick.

Lakers because everyone knows Stern cheats for them. Just like he did when he forced Chris Paul to come to the Lakers....oh wait.........
