From the last 15 years, in their prime. In other words, whomever you pick we will assume that the player is in his prime. Mine is looking like this:

Gilbert Arenas - PG
Manu Ginobili - SG
Rashard Lewis - SF
Carlos Boozer - PF
Andy V. - Center

Pretty solid to me.

i bet u would find a lot of good bucks players, they are good with their second rounders. Too bad they never seem to figure out what to do in the first round.
Guys like Mo williams, Michael Redd, Dan Gadzuric, Ersan Ilyasova, Jodie Meeks, Luc Mbah a Moute, ramon sessions

I used to do this as a kid and look at one of the most dissappointing drafts in history, 1986. Look at who was there in the second round and later:

Jeff Hornacek
Dennis Rodman
Drazen Petrovic
Mark Price

Teams ended up with several flops in the 1st round that year and there was a HOF'r plus several All-Star appearances for players taken after that 1st round.

For younger fans: Price was injury prone but was a VERY talented PG. Petrovic was a pioneer as one of the first European players to come over and ball like an All-Star before tragically dying in an automobile accident while still in the prime of his career.

Hornacek was the starting shooting guard for those great Jazz teams that went to the Finals in back-to back years and of course Rodman was a future HOF'r on the Bulls teams that beat the Jazz.

I can build a contender using picks from one draft: 1986!

PG: Mark Price/Nate McMillen/Johnny Newman
SG: Jeff Hornacek
SF: Drazen Petrovic/David Wingate
PF: Rodman
C: Duckworth/Kenny Gatison

Now... Petrovic is playing out of position, but I think that roster could cause some damage. Maybe not contend, but considering it's only players from one draft... that's a pretty good team.

As for recent players, there is a lot to choose from in the front court, but not so much in the back court and SF.

PG: Gilbert Arenas/Mo-Will/Sessions/Isaiah Thomas
SG: Redd/Krover/Kapono/Monta Ellis/Novak/Manu
SF:Stephen Jackson/Ariza/Singler
PF:Haslem/Boozer/Matt Barnes/Scola/Milsap/Bib Baby Davis/Blair
C: Okur/Ben Wallace/Zaza/Bonner/Anderson-V/Gortat/Mark Gasol/Pekovic/DJordan/Asik

Ty_Lawson
12-28-2012, 06:53 PM
PG:Ellis/Thomas I./Dragic
SG:Redd/Jackson/Budinger
SF:Parsons/Barnes
PF:Asik/Varejao
C:Pekovic/Jordan/Gasol

Sly Guy
12-28-2012, 06:54 PM
Mo Williams
Michael Redd
Stephen Jackson
Paul Millsap
Marc Gasol

this's a pretty good lineup. I don't remember draft positions, so I have nothing to contribute of my own, but this is pretty stellar.

SG:Redd/Jackson/Budinger

The fact that you would start Pecovic over Gasol and than not include Manu Ginobli or Agent Zero makes me LOL.

PG - Gilbert Arenas 2001 (career - 20p/5a/4r)

SG - Manu Ginobili 1999 (career - 15p/4a/3r)

SF - Rashard Lewis 1998 (career - 16p/2a/5r)

PF - Carlos Boozer 2002 (career - 17p/2a/10r

C - Marc Gasol 2007 (career - 14p/3a/9r)

Bench: (I cut their career totals in half comming off the bench)

Gaurd - Monta Ellis (combo/gaurd) (10p/2a/2r off the bench)

Forward - Stephen Jackson (gaurd/forward) (8p/2a/2r off bench)

Big - Anderson Varejao (forward/center) (7p/1a/4r still think he can get his career pts off the bench)

We can score (100 pts/20 ast/40 reb) a game, just have to D-UP every night & crash the boards.

In todays NBA would be top 10 in pts, Middle of the pack in ast, & Bottom half in reb.

Agreed. Between Ginobili, Arenas, and Mo Williams I think there's more than enough offense/playmaking from the backcourt. Stephen Jackson/Parsons are both all rounders that can faciliate as well from the SF position. Lewis and Redd would be deadly spot up shooters.

They didn't draft Mo Williams though, Utah did. The signed him as a rfa after his rookie year in Utah.
