I hate Nate, I lived in Portland for a few and just....I dont know I am not a fan of mild mannered coaches.

I think a coach that can run the Flex so that Deron can go back to his comfort zone would be best. Not necessarily Sloan although i would prefer it but just someone that can run the offense though Deron the way Sloan dis. Avery ran the offense through Brook.

They need to get it to a level where at least half Brook Lopez's points are assisted on. The guy is too soft and weak to be a go to option and he is a black hole that slows the offense down to a crawl.

Avery was so focused on the defense and making our team into a top defensive team that our offense suffered. You have to always focus on your strengths. That is what the best coaches do. This team has a lot of offensive firepower. We should be among the best offensive teams in the NBA. Avery however wanted to slow the pace down to a crawl in order to help our D but it hurt our offense as well.

Phil Jax is not interested according to hoopshype. SVG doesn't want it either, which I found a bit surprising. Who's left? Mike Brown and Nate?

Sloan.

Sloan is a perfect fit. This team has a lot of the same makeup of the Utah teams he coached.

Deron needs to accept Jerry back. He's the best coach available

Not surprised SVG is out. Deron and Dwight basically sabotaged everything the Magic had going on to team up in Brooklyn. Stan is laughing his *** off.

Plus with Deron now having a rep as a coach killer (however fair or not), not too many coaches will be lining up to coach the guy.

The only coach that can help this situation is Sloan because Deron has been praising him lately signaling might have matured some

Would not surprise me. This organization is pretty inept and the Russians that run it seem to know very little about NBA basketball

Well, there are a lot of great coaches available right now: Phil Jackson, Jerry Sloan, Larry Brown, SVG, JVG, Nate McMillen, Mike Dunleavy, Flip Saunders. Can't think of too many more guys who got experience. Mike Brown I think has served as a head coach for the last time.

Lots of good options. If Sloan and Jackson aren't interested, I think McMillen would be a good choice (though he has been known for having issues with his PGs from what I heard).

Serious contenders to replace Avery: Mike Dunleavy (Brooklyn style, baby, Brooklyn style) and Nate McMillian

Keep in mind Vescey is a complete and utter buffoon.

why would Sloan possibly want to coach Deron again?

Stan Van Gundy to Brooklyn? Well, he wasn't crazy about the Magic CEO and I can't recall that guy ever tweeting an apology after a loss.

Turns out, I'm told, there are no current coaching prospects. Carlesimo was told 2 coach as if on 10-yr deal & owner/King will evaluate

But he did say he was interested in the Knicks job then the Lakers job as well...sooo "retirement" is relative.

All he said was, "Interested." Thats not exactly a ringing endorsement, and certainly doesn't mean he wants to coach the player that pushed him out of his job.

Obviously until Phil officially turns it down he's the guy to get. They got good personal to run the triangle. I could see maybe like a Fratello or Dunleavy coming into play if Jackson does turn them down.

Would love Sloan after Phil but can't see him accepting that after his past with D-Will unless it really wasn't like we all think it is. Maybe a fat check and a talk with D-Will can convince him to let the past be in the past. D-Will did speak highly of him and maybe he's realizes how good Sloan really was after being with Avery for the past few years.
