View Full Version : If you had to pick an NBA player your game resembles, who would it be?

This is for the people who actually ball on here, if you had to pick an actual NBA player from this current era, that you feel your game emulates, has been influenced by or just straight up feels like, who would it be? Please be realistic:) ha, and why? I would have to say mine would be Raymond Felton, Mid-range jumper and always trying to get the rest of my team involved/pick and roll player

Probably Rajon Rondo or Ricky Rubio, I just love to involve other players and make some good passes and I'm 6'2 175 pounds similar to them, also like slashing to the basket the way Dwyane Wade does.

I really don't know,i was thinking about Finley few years back, but now...i really don't know..
Great midrange jumpshot(like Rip Hamilton in Detroit before),solid 3pt shooter, not great but can hit almost every open shoot and few "in your face" if im on fire lol...before i had some post moves,i have them now too but i use that only if i have to(if game is on the line..i hate to post up),good court vision, but not that fast and not that good handle with my left hand...and i have more kg than i should lol..so if i would have to choose 1 player i would choose Rondo wih better shooting,or CP3 lol

50% Paul pierce 25% Kobe 15% melo 10% Tmac. I haven't played serious bball in a few years but back when I played I could score on anyone, I was a pretty good rebounder, and I was lazy on defense but when I had to I could usually lock them down. I was really good at breaking up two on one fast breaks. I miss those days. I could grab the rim in 8th grade, which was impressive because I was slightly overweight. Then I started getting injured like crazy, just like Tmac :P

LeonFSU
12-22-2012, 08:25 PM
Start with a cross between Joe Wolf and Ryan Bowen. Take away about 8 inches. Take away 99% of their athleticism. Then add Metta's elbowing prowess, Dikembe's finger wag, and Mike Tyson's face tattoo. Then add the bath salts and that's pretty much where I'm at.

Dennis rodman, Kendrick perkins. No skills, just bang, be physical, intense, do the dirty work. I'm long, strong and athletic, but can't dribble or shoot worth a ****. Better passer then those guys though. Although something in my memory is telling me Rodman was an underrated passer... I could ne wrong. Good rebounds, defense and picks. Protect the lane on D, runthe pick and roll, seal the space around the rim for penetrators to come in freely. I 've played ball for years in the context of staying in shape, always cared less about the skill parts. I get bored fast practicing shooting and ribbling. I just want to run and bang. I've carved out a nice little niche for myself there.

I can't think of one player specifically. But there are a combo of players that I have a similar aspect of their game.

1) Dirk. I have a very similar post game. I like to get the ball in the high post near the elbows and use my length to knock down those turn around fade-aways. I also have learned to use that step back move he does. This is probably the most complete aspect of my game.

2) Jamal Crawford- Like Crawford, my game isn't always pretty. Sometimes I look a bit out of control when I'm making my moves. But I can get the ball in the net. When I'm playing games with people who I haven't played with before its pretty common for me to hear people say stuff like "wtf" or "are you kidding" or "did he really just make that" after making a difficult shot.

3)Z-Bo- One thing I am good at that Z-Bo has mastered is being in the right place at the right time. At 5'11 I am pretty average height. I am only 145 lbs though, so not big. Even though I lack size, I have a knack for finding the ball. When the shot goes up I get very good rebounding position and am able to get a surprising number of boards for my size. That is something Z-Bo is known for.

4) Rip Hamilton- I chose him because he moves well w/o the basketball. I do too. I am always making the cuts and getting myself in good position to receive a pass and make a play.

5) The Big Fundamental- I chose Tim Duncan because he is such a fundamental basketball player. I may not play like him considering I'm not always posting up (although because of him I am very effective using the backboard), and do like to play outside and shoot 3's. But when I go to the gym at school to play, I play with some pretty good people. Often times I am outmatched athletically. Rarely am I a number 1 or 2 option to score. Usually I'm like the number 3 or 4 guy. When thats the case, I still find ways to be effective by making fundamental basketball plays and playing solid D.

6) Metta WorldPeace- Unless I am severely outmatched athletically and am up against just a pure total baller, I consider myself a lockdown defender. Also I can get hot from 3 point range.

7) Tony Parker- Teardrop

8) I chose Kobe because I grew up watching him and a lot of my offensive game is based on what I see from him. My fade-away jumpers are nice. I got that from him. I am also similar when I drive into the lane and make subtle moves then float it over the defender. But also like Kobe, sometimes I can get a little carried away and try to take a game over myself especially if I havent gotten as many touches as I like. When Im playing with ppl who dont pass the ball, sometimes I get the ball and decide no matter what Im shooting cuz I may not get another chance

If its current player then Probably Gordon Hayward. Cause I do a little bit of everything. Sg is my natural position but Im an above average passer and rebounder for a SG so in high school I often played the 1 through 4 positions. Defensively I was never a great man defender but I got a lot of steals/blocks/charges taken as a help defender which Hayward seems to resemble as well.

If its all time then probably Reggie Miller because I used to run guys off of screens like mad and was a pretty good 3 point shooter.

Iverson. Not in the shoot first/selfish way, but as a little guy (5'8") growing up in Philly, you couldn't help being inspired by the guy. Trying to reenact that crossover on M.J, using speed to make up for what I lacked in height; I owe a lot of my playstyle to watching the answer play. I know he didn't give a damn about practice, but man would he leave everything on the court for 48 minutes night in and night out.

I cant shoot to save my life i lack the athletic ability to drive reliably. But i have a good head for the game and play gritty ball i drive on the floor for lose balls scrap for rebounds and pass frist on my drives preferably to a post player and i outright play shut down D when i have a decent enough big to pressure the ball. Im not sure my game fits with any player in the nba today becuase few are as limited on offense as i am. If i score its from a post move this being said im a Point guard. So post situations come rarely.

Shane battier on defense, I do the hand in the face with the moving fingers all the time just to annoy people. Offense, probably Jeremy Lin...A drive and dish guy with an occasional shot who sometimes gets caught in the air and turns it over haha

My god, people are actually comparing themselves to NBA players...lololololol

Yeah, because everyone in the thread is saying they're as good as the person they're comparing to....right?

Oh wait, they aren't.

The thread is asking which player has a style that is similar to yours.

Reading comprehension.

I only play street ball, but I would say Monta Ellis with a little more defense, and a lot less flashy handles.

I can hit a three or two, my mid range game is solid, and even though I lack in handles, I still drive to the rim and either draw the defense and pass it, or YOLO it. And my passing isn't bad either.
