"@FisolaNYDN: One final thing on Amar'e. Remember how Mike D'Antoni didn't want Carmelo? Well, he also told Donnie Walsh not to pursue Amar'e. Fact."

Amazing dude is apparently an underrated GM.t

He was behind giving Marcus Banks a 5 year midlevel deal years ago with the Suns. He should be behind no decision making :)

Yup.

Mike D sucks balls.

18-24 with the Knicks last year
18-6 Woodson went with the same group. Hell, even worse...Woodson had Lin injured practically the whole time and Amare was out for 1 month.

I don't know why teams keep hiring this guy. I get the fact that he developed a certain type of offense that many teams use to this day but that's all he was ever good for. Now that the league understands his offensive sets and know how to utilize them, why keep him around? Players don't respect him and his defense is a joke.

He also wanted to trade Melo for D-Will. As bad of a coach as he is, he may be a worse GM yet, if that's even possible.

You know Mike is frustrated. He is slowly proving exactly why he doesn't deserve to coach in the NBA and that Nash basically made his career. At the same time, it's hard to feel sorry for him when he keeps acting like an ***. First quitting on the Knicks and then saying **** about Pau the first game he starts to coach.

There were a lot of free agents during that time which I am sure everyone wanted before Amare. I dont see the big deal here. Dwill was a better fit for his system. Everyone knows its a pg driven system. The guy was just trying to hold on to his job.

In the summer of 2010:

LeBron, Wade, Amare, Bosh, & Johnson were the biggest 5 Free Agents

But this isn't shocking because D'Antoni and Amare clashed in Phoenix before D'Antoni left because he wanted Amare to become more perimeter oriented.

I would have taken 3 of those guys before amare

So I guess D'antoni would have preferred to have signed nobody that offseason? Johnson signed a ludicrous contract and the other 3 formed the superfriends. The guy is a joke

Imagine the Knicks never wasted all that money on that scrub? They would have had CP3
