How often do you see guys lacking in All-Star production offensively but make the A.S. Team on the strength of their defense?

Honestly, never... At least not off the top of my head. Maybe Ben Wallace?

Without the numbers in this league, you aren't making an Allstar team.

recently? Loul Deng is one example, but all star voters definitely value points more than anything else. Although you could argue that thats not always true because Monta Ellis never made it to the allstar game even though he was like a 25 ppg scorer. Neither did Kevin Martin. So I'm not really sure.

I think that's moreso with the Bulls having the top record in the league and coaches feeling that the best record-wise regular season team up to the point of all-star weekend deserved 2 all-stars. Rose already voted, so they went with the 2nd best player on the team in Deng.

But Deng had a good overall yr too, he isn't "just" known for his defense like a Bowen or Big Ben.

I would love to see an all defensive team going up against and all offensive team instead of the regular allstar game. Would be legit.

He averaged 14 ppg per 36 min at 50% ts%. He was nothing special offensively.

Fantastic idea. Not sure how to pull it off but this would be cool. Both sides would be very motivated to win.

What team would guys like Lebron who are great on both ends play for?

Okay so last year would look something like this:
Defensive Team/Offensive Team
Rondo/Kobe
Iggy/Durant
Lebron/Melo
Dwight Howard/Griffin
Tyson Chandler/Bynum
...
Lou Deng/CP3
Tony Allen/Wade
KG/Bosh
Shawn Marion/Love
Ibaka/Westbrook

Not knocking lebron's D in any way. I would rather see how he how he does against an all D team. Would be fun to watch.

its rarer than offense, but it does happen surprisingly often.while yes someone like rodman only made it once, both russell and mutombo made it 8+ times, and wallace a.roberston made it several times.so its not as much a hinderance that it's ade out to be.hell ast year both iggy and deng made it with the only justification being their d
