View Full Version : Why in the world are the Cavs trying to trade Varejao?

The dude is balling out the world and has 2 more years on the contract so it's not like he's an expiring deal

He only makes 9 mil a year and is only 30 years old

So it's not talent, contract, or age.... Then what is it?

Zeller won't produce what Varajao does and Thompson is a PF that can't play C full time

I don't get it, Irving, Waiters, and Varejao is a good trio to build on

Especially with Irving becoming a superstar

Doesn't he have some durability issues? I know he's been injured last couple of seasons before this season.

Yup, selling high. And they could probably have Lamb or PJ3 + a first rounder from OKC for him.

Selling high but he is 30 they wanna build and need someone younger cause the process will take time. By the time the rest of the team is where it needs to be he will be too old

They probably don't want to pay him after his current deal is up and if there were ever a time to trade him its now when he's balling out of his mind. Highest value now.

They can't compete this season so its not like they are losing out on much.
Probably want to give their other bigs a shot at development,

He gets injured a decent amount I believe. His value is at an all time high and they need to support Irving with some more scorers

Perk plus Lamb for him would be good for both teams I think

They need someone who is within the same age group as Irving, Waiters and Thompson so they are all in their prime together.

Derrick Williams and Luke Ridnour for Anderson.

Duncan = Donkey

Pretty obvious why.....Cavs are a young team, rebuilding, Verejao is 30, has high trade value right now. What more needs to be said?

Like others said: selling high for expiring's

Hoping for Zeller/Noel in the next draft?

i think it is age. they're still a ways off from contending. also like others have said he's had some big injuries and they're looking to sell high.

Yeah I'd be cool with that. I think Lamb is going to be really good though, and I think Presti agrees. So who knows.

selling high.....

Exactly. Why in the world would they want to keep him at 30 now???

Kyle Irving is 20. Tristan Thompson is 21. Dion Waiters is 21. Notice they intend to be young and build around a young Kyle Irving with other young players along him.

By the time the Cavs become good again, Varejao will be older and no where near the current level of production.

Trade him now and get something good back I say. Smart move by the Cavs.

Selling high isn't always the best choice.

If he gets hurt or starts to slump his trade value won't be nearly as high as it is now. Odds are he won't keep up this level of play, and the Cavs are rebuilding. If they can get a good young player or a lottery pick or two they should do it.

1. Clear cap Space
2. Get a pick
3. More minutes for zeller
4. Lose more games this year to get a better .

next offseason they have the ability to offer 2 maxs. and if the acquire a 1st then they could have 4 first round picks in the next draft

IMO and I hate to say it being a Bulls Homer, the Cavs have a very bright future.

Lol hes worth more than that. A first rounder from OKC is essentially a second round pick

Kyle Iriving is decent. But Kyrie is better.

From what I gather the Cavs want some combination of young NBA ready talent and/or lotto pick for AV. Sounds like the biggest draw coming from the Wolves as of today.

The Mavs pick is lottery protected, and the Raps is top three protected and playoff protected (has to be 4-14 pick).

That doesn't even make sense. He was talking about last year, when Bargs was playing good.

Okay! Not sure what you're faulting me for... the poster basically stated his GM f'd up for not scamming the Cavs for a trade netting them AV for Bargs (and his outlier season).

I think it's the right move his value will never be higher they could use more young pieces.

OKC makes a ton of sense.

There so dam young why keep a 30 year old in his prime when you can get a few young players to work with waiters Thomson n Irving ....try to get a couple of rooks...by the time they can all compete Anderson will be worthless to them
