Never a big fan of Mike D, but we're stupid for not getting him a pg to work with while Nash has been out. You hire a guy who is only successful with a decent point guard (made Felton and Lin look great), and yet we're running with possible the worst point guard tandem in history. This is nowhere near as bad as Fish + Blake. I didn't think it could get worse, but I was wrong... I was wrong.

Lakers need a starting pg Nash is a bench player at this point in his career. I was never a fan of a 3yr contract on a 38yr old player. The fact that lakers is waiting on him is a scary thought. Nash will help in 3point shooting and turnovers but the team will be even worst on defense. Westbrook, Parker, Rhondo, Dwill, D rose, Lebron or Wade, Paul is going to pick him apart. The only player he may keep up with is Kid and miller but even them will dump him in the post. If they are smart they will get a pg. Blake is also done for the season.

I've been saying this for a couple weeks. We can't wait for Nash, the dude is at least 3 weeks away. I don't think he's ready until mid-January at the earliest. Then what? We wait a month to see if they jell... well then it's February, and if it hasn't worked, we're screwed. Get someone ASAP.

6-8 weeks is not done for the season Blake will be back after the all-star break, and the only team that has a possible starting PG is the Raptors I mean they have that trade offer on the table you know Calderon and other players for Pau Gasol.

So you don't believe he will be an upgrade, in pretty much all aspects of the game, compared to Morris??? Currently this team needs all the help it can get. The only thing we don't want to do is sign or trade for horrible contracts that will cripple the team later.

Over 10 mil, and put Pau on the dealing table and the'll talk. Kleiza is more realistic add because Derozan is one of their best players and he's not for sale. So Calderon and Kleiza will match, but they will try and force us to take Bargnani's contract in any deal invloving Calderon.

But yourself a jersey and some shoes, and after you've passed the background check we'll assign a security officer to accompany you whenever you're within 500 yards of any player making more than $2m a year. (It's for your own protection.) Well
Now this might be a slight problem.

just go for calderon, but make sure we dont ahve to give up pau and eats Bargnanis rotten contract and crappy play.

The problem for me is that I'd be almost as reluctant to trade Hill as I would be to trade Pau. That doesn't leave much for acquiring Calderon. I don't want to make a lateral trade, filling holes by creating new ones.

Kobe
Pau
Howard
Nash
Hill

I don't want them to trade any of the above. I almost added Meeks, but he might be the only thing remotely appealing that's left to trade. I'd prefer to keep Artest, but by no means would I resist if somebody was interested. I'd say the cheap fix is the most realistic option. What's Mike James doing? ;)

How about a trade for Luke Ridnour or Jarret Jack?
Would you trade Jack if you were GSW and know Curry has a glass ankle? His title may as well be pseudo starter over sixth man

Ridnour can maybe be bad, but he and Rubio did have chemistry and they did start together last year while giving the wolves a winning record. Plus they don't want Shved or Barea starting. Ridnour only hit the trade table because they would,be getting Jamal Crawford last year and getting rid of Beasley, who the Suns don't want now either after just a few months

West talent is certainly the best on the market. He has the talent, skill, ad work ethic to be the backup 1 or 2 on this team. They just have to make sure he stays medicated like with MWP though they both have different mental disorders. West is bipolar, whereas Ron suffers with IED by his own admission.

Lakers are said to be also looking at Cedric Jackson, who is currently overseas...He's a pick and roll PG...
-----------------------------
January 17, 2011
Joseph Treutlein

After playing for three different teams in the NBA on ten-day contracts last season, Cedric Jackson is back in the D-League once again where he's one of the point guards most likely to see a call-up when teams start offering ten-day contracts. Not much has changed for Jackson over the past year aside from some subtle improvements in little areas of his game.

A quick point guard with good size and a high motor, Jackson has nice creativity and shiftiness with the ball, being a good threat operating off the dribble, especially in pick-and-roll situations. His style of play is one that is very ball-dominant, something that is further magnified by his team's style of play, which centers highly on isolations and pick-and-rolls, not having much in terms of off-ball movement or play calling.

As a point guard, Jackson shows very good vision with the ball, especially in the lane and running the pick-and-roll, seeing all the options and making some very tough passes on the move. His ability to change directions and keep his head up with the ball are key to his game, and he appears to be improving his feel for the game as he gets more experience.

In terms of his own offense, Jackson does a good job getting to the rim with a nice array of crossovers and good footwork, though he struggles to finish well at the basket despite showing pretty good creativity. He has further problems at the free-throw line, as while he gets there at a decent rate, he has struggled to shoot over 70% at most of his many stops in college, the D-League, and the NBA.

Jackson does show a nice mid-range game, being capable of pulling up off the dribble and creating his own shots out of isolations and pick-and-rolls, but his below average three-point shooting is probably the biggest thing holding him back right now, as it holds back how effective he can be out of the pick-and-roll and hurts his ability to play off the ball.

Defensively, Jackson is extremely tough and active, showing a good stance, excellent hands, and solid overall awareness. He makes a lot of plays off the ball, communicates pretty well, and does a good job in man-to-man perimeter defense as well.

Looking forward, Jackson could certainly get some more chances to play in the league, having already played for the Spurs, Cavs, and Wizards. His ball-dominant style of play poses a problem for fitting into what most NBA coaches are looking for, but his prowess in the pick-and-roll and his defense are very attractive qualities, while he has plenty of size and athleticism for the point guard spot as well. If he could develop into a reliable three-point shooter he could have a chance to develop into a solid backup point guard in the NBA, and that needs to be his main priority at the moment.

Cedric Jackson suggested as option for Lakers

Published: 9:10AM Thursday December 13, 2012 Source: ONE Sport

Star Breakers point guard Cedric Jackson has been suggested as a possible answer for the Los Angeles Lakers' woes in the NBA.

After bringing together a high profile line-up packed with All-Stars in the off-season, the Lakers have struggled to a 9-13 record, with injuries to Steve Nash and Pau Gasol not helping their cause.

The effects of the injury to two-time MVP point guard Nash has been exacerbated by an injury to back-up Steve Blake, leaving the 17-time NBA champions short in the back-court.

CBS NBA analyst Ken Berger pointed to Jackson as a solution to the problem today, pointing to his triple-double against Melbourne's former NBA point guard two weeks ago.

"If Lakers look overseas, former Cleveland State PG Cedric Jackson has drawn interest from several NBA teams in the Australian League," Berger said.

"Playing for New Zealand, Jackson dominated Jonny Flynn (Melbourne) head-to-head this week with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists."

Jackson was unsuccessful in his bid to secure an NBA contract in the NBL off-season after spending time working out with a number of teams. He has made no secret of his dream to have another crack at the big show.

He will have another chance to prove himself tonight as the Breakers take on the Cairns Taipans at Vector Arena.

Ya of course he looked great against Johnny Flynn lol... Flynn stinks. I think the safest bet is cutting either Morris or Ebanks and signing Delonte. Trading for Calderon would be tough cuz the Lakers would have to give up a lot. Jackson is unproven. Delonte can actually play. This team doesnt have time to experiment with a guy who is playing well in Australia against Johnny Flynn...

I have watched Jackson play in the ANBL the last 2 years as he plays for my homeland NZ Breakers and he is the best PG in the league. I compare his explosive speed and athleticism to being similar to Rose and Westbrook no joke. He is also of the same hybrid PG mould as them. He has a good jumper and a decent 3 ball but his strength is penetrating and scoring or dishing to teammates. Also his other strength is being a great defender with quick hands. He would definitely fit as the type of PG were looking for to run Dantonis offense. However the LEVEL of OPPOSITION is at another level in the NBA and I feel it's a tough environment to come into a win now situation for an unproven
talent. I would much rather the Lakers look at a proven NBA player like Delonte West who has played for championship caliber teams and has playoff experience. I think Jackson could make it back to the NBA as he has the tools. If we did pick him up Id be happy for him. It would be a low risk move but a definite gamble as well. Who knows anythings possible as KG famously said lol!!! :)

One reason I'm definitely happy if he doesn't get picked up by the Lakers which is most probable is my NZ Breakers are looking to 3peat as ANBL Champions and that will be highly unlikely without Cedric Jackson!!! Oh well I'd still be happy if he did lol.

Not one of the ponit guards I've heard mentioned are going to help, we need what we can't get. We need a guard like Kyrie Irving, Jrue Holiday, Brandon Jennings, Ty Lawson, Arron Brooks... those are the type of guys we need!

Not ****ing Mike James or Delonte West!

We're not getting those dudes though. Delonte is the best that is realistically available, and better than what we have now. All I know is that if we stay much longer with the absolute scrubs we have at PG now, we're not going to be able to dig ourselves out.

Delonte west is better than brooks and a better defensive player than all of the guys on that list. We need a pg who will not turn the ball over and who can defend, west fits that pretty well.

Yeah realistically Cedric may have a slim shot to get back in the NBA. He does have the speed and athleticism I have no doubt. He's a great playmaker, defender and hustler. His weakness is his outside shot however it is improving steadily. He did try out for Spurs and played in their Summer League side and that was their critique. I know scouts have been coming to watch him not sure which teams. I personally think he could get back but it will not be with us. Too much pressure for a guy trying to just get a NBA contract and foot back in let alone rescue the greatest franchise ever. We need a guy who has proven he belongs in the NBA.

Just finished watching Cedric play tonight and he dominated 32 points,5 Rebs and 8 dimes leading the Breakers to victory. His abilty to constantly penetrate and make difficult layups is astounding and his premiter shot is improving. However I just hate that the level of play and defense in the NBL is a world apart from the NBA and you can't use it as a true measuring stick. Basically you wont know how good he really is unless we see him against NBA talent. Its a big risk i dont think we can afford when in win now mode. The funniest part was listening to the commentators swooning over him being linked to the Lakers lol. They even interviewed Jackson after and asked about the Lakers interest and he did acknowledge it but was mum and pretty much didn't give anything away.

DownUnder lives in Australia. I wonder what he thinks of the NBL, maybe he can provide some insight. I'm going off what my brother told me (he was in Melbourne for a few years), and he said the talent wasn't very good. But then again, he was so used to watching NCAA and NBA ball. So I have no clue.
