Derrick Rose beats 'em all one-on-one. Except LeBron & KD.

We need to collectively learn to ignore Palmer.

Not saying I disagree...but Chris Palmer is a hack and a half.

Number 8 Kobe's D was legendary.
Started getting lazy defensively after 01.

However I was recently watching some video of 00 Kobe and yea at times he could play some very nasty m2m defense.

Physically he had all the tools thats for sure.

So he started getting lazy on defense after 01 4 years into his career? Gtfo he didn't slow down defensively until like 2009-2010

Yeah man! In fact I heard Kobe was the best defender, rebounder, passer, scorer and coach in the NBA!

1 on 1 Rose would man handle Kobe. Kobe can't stay in front of him, nobody can.

Either way, basketball isn't a 1 on 1 sport so it doesn't matter. This is like saying TMAC in his prime will dominate everyone, but obviously the guy never went anywhere cause basketball isn't a 1 on 1 sport.

for the sake of argument, there are certain players that are extremely good 1 on 1. Kobe is one of them, as was MJ. Other nba players have said the same. I watched MJ play 1 on 1. they play with no rebounds usually. make and u keep, miss and change of possession. Nobody could play with him...Kobe prime would destroy rose. hes just too good of a mid range and post up player, rose may not see the ball if he missed one. Just my take on this.

Melo Durant and Kobe would probably be the 3 best "1 on 1" players in the NBA.

I think Russell Westbrook would be a better 1 on 1 player than Durant.

No way, Durants wingspan would give Westbrook problems.

Westbrook would not be able to stop Durant AT ALL.

1 on 1 is so much different, no high screens to allow point guards to penetrate like in an NBA game.

There was an enormous difference in his effort level on the defensive end from 00-01 and 02-04.

After 01 he just didn't put forth the same effort defensively anymore where he'd get down and dirty.
He probably still had the same physical tools at that point but the effort died down.

I don't know at what point he lost that really elite quickness he had in his youth.
Probably around 04-05.

Well that's not a fair match-up, Durant has a good 6 inches on Westbrook. It's like saying Shaq would destroy Michael Jordan because of his size.

Westbrook has the handles and quickness to blow by anybody in the world one on one and his lateral quickness is at an elite level. His defense is up there and his jump shot is decent.

no...westbrook would get smoked. true 1 on 1 is winners outs and no rebounds. westbrook would miss and durant would win easily. melo and kobe would probably be two best in the nba.

His coach doesn't agree
