As we all know Wilt Chamberlain once averaged OVER 48 minutes a game (due to the fact that he played every available minute including OT games). He posted some crazy numbers that season, in part because the NBA was essentailly a track meet back in the day with so many possessions. That said, the game is generally considered slower today, yet very few players ever even post an average of 40 minutes a game, let alone 48+. So my question to you is: Are there any players in the league currently who could play 48 minutes a game and not get so tired that it impacts their performance?

I think there have been a few guys since Wilt who could concievably pull it off, Rodman for example... that guy used to hop on an exercise bike when he was out of the game, I think Anderson-V has done the same. I realize no coach in his right mind is going to ask a player to do it, but are there any guys who could handle it?

Not for a whole season.

Also, it's just pointless in today's NBA.

I know I say Monta a lot but he averaged a lot of minutes back when he was on the Warriors.

Monta's done it. 41 mpg and 40 mpg in two consecutive seasons.

"Easily" is a stretch. He's never played 36 minutes a game in his career. He's a phenomenal athlete, but I'm not sure you can say he could play 48 minutes a game for 82 games.

True, but I'd say his minutes are that low due to stupidity more so than fatigue. He's even been quoted saying "I don't get tired, people only get tired when they tell themselves they're tired"... Or something along those lines. He's a freak.

Varejao probably could if they let him. The man's default setting is crackhead speed.

The game has become more physically draining and coaches have wisened up. Unless you have MJ or Bron or a dominant big, its very rare to have your best player handle heavy minutes and still win a chip at the end of the year.

Deng & Eddy Curry.

A younger Steve Nash probably could. That guy's stamina is insane. He could run all day. Soccer players, man.

Nowadays, though, it'd kill him.

Nah. But if someone could, it's guys who have ultimate endurance. Constantly playing high mins and never missed a lot of games in their career. The only 2 that come to mind are Howard and Lebron. Monta also but I think he has had some injuries.

I know I say Monta a lot but he averaged a lot of minutes back when he was on the Warriors.

And Monta played some back-to-back 48 min games on a number of occasions

Iverson was averaging 43mpg REGULARLY like back-to-back-to-back-to-back seasons.

I'm sure barring a weird injury several guys have the conditioning but it's a terrible plan
