Meh. The Championship letdown. Not the first time it's happened. I'm sure that fire and hunger will be fine come playoff time. But an 82 game season when playoffs and a playoff run are inevitable for a third straight time is probably a bit of an annoyance.

I don't think it's time to panic. It would frustrate me as a fan, but it's understandable.

But yes, if those players don't have the same hunger, and LeBron is the only guy playing hard and having another all-time great season, well, hopefully that quiets a few of the remaining detractors. Dude has always been hungry. He's a world class competitor.

If Miami can't find it by the playoffs, the Heat aren't going anywhere.

As good as Lebron is, he can't carry the team to a Chip by himself, especially with the strength of the field this year.

SAS, OKC, Memphis, the Knicks... not to mention the Clippers, Brooklyn and Boston can't be beaten by a one man show, even if that player is the best basketball player on the planet.

If I was a Miami fan I wouldn't be worried yet, but I sure would have some concerns.

People underestimate how hard it is to repeat. Duncan and his Spurs have never done it. Only teams to do it after the russell's celtics are 80s Lakers, 80s Pistons, JordansBulls, Hakeems Rockets, 2000s Lakers, and 2010 Lakers.

I think the lack of effort is noticeable on defense...and I do think that's something that you can flip the switch on pretty easily. Defense, especially for a veteran team with chemistry, is mostly effort.

He said last night that the Heat need to "slow down their pace" to be more effective. He was immediately checked by lebron a few minutes later by reporters when James said it really has nothing to do with pace and they just got their butts whooped plain and simple.

Bosh needs to quiet down with his histrionics and follow the leader of his team. James practicing after the game last night should have a trickle down effect to the rest of the guys. When the best player on the planet is working that hard on his game, others need to shut up and follow his lead.

If I'm Lebron I'd slap bosh for saying that. You should always have a hunger. When you get that taste of one you should be hungry for more. It's what competitors do. Ask Kobe about his rings he wants more. And I know Lebron isn't happy with just one.

Why is everyone jumping on bosh's back? What he said is legit. It's hard to find that fire and intensity. It has to come from other places. It's not like your playing to prove yourself when your the reigning champ. Manu said almost the same exact thing when talking about winning 3 in 5 without repeating. There is a reason repeating is such a remarkable feat. I still believe miami repeats but they need these slaps from Washington and New York to show them how to dig deep when your back is against the wall. It will help for spring basketball where it counts.

Well he is lucky he has LeBron James on his team. People can knock him for not being clutch during the playoffs (and he deserves a lot of blame for his first finals, because he played terribly), but he has just as much fire and drive as Michael and Kobe IMO. He has constantly improved his game throughout the years and always gives his all on offense and defense, much like kobe and michael did. He will carry the Heat.

Once the playoffs come around, I'm sure theyll be a bit more hungry.

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever...you aren't being aggressive if you're flopping like a fish out of water. That aggressive style of defense can still be played, as I've seen it in spurts a bunch of times already. I love how delusional people are nowadays about how we can't play elite defense anymore. [QUOTE=ManRamForPrez24;24624696]Meh. The Championship letdown. Not the first time it's happened. I'm sure that fire and hunger will be fine come playoff time. But an 82 game season when playoffs and a playoff run are inevitable for a third straight time is probably a bit of an annoyance.

QUOTE]

Call me crazy but are you saying what it appears you are saying?

"its OK, we are the heat, we will not start to care until spring"?

Annoyance? How does 19 million dollars a year to play a sport annoy you in any way?

These are proffessional athletes for heavens sake. LeBron seemed more annoyed last night that the Knicks spanked his team AGAIN. he lifted wieghts for an hour to let the steam out before facing reporters. LeBron hated as he is (not so much anymore) is the ultimate proffessional.

Seems like peopel are making excuses for the Heat. They need no excuses, they are NBA Champs, start playing like it and leave the excuses on the court.

All anyone heard the first time the Knicks killed them was "Hurricane Sandy" Now they are just on cruise control until the inevitable championship run. Keep believing that and you will be watching two other teams playing for next years ring.

But to me, it's the fact that he turns the biggest stage of the NBA (finals/playoffs) into exhibition games and makes the crowd stand up cheering on their feet in awe. His will to never even allow a game 7 in the finals or not allowing other players to out play him in a whole series is what gives me goosebumps. He never once believed he would lose.

Congratulations Knicks.....you beat the Heat on November 2nd and December 6th.

You sound like a Yankee fan. The problem is, guys like me are not spouting off about two regular season blowouts. Im not saying that the Heat wont even repeat. they very well could.
Im just laughing at the lack of accountability from Heat fans on these boards. You just have excuses and more excuses. No one wants to dare say the Knicks can actually beat us this year. Just keep discounting these two games as Cruise control or annoyance and see where that gets you in may.
Did the Heat get any credit for being good after losing to dallas two years ago? No one was counting them out before the next years playoffs. Good teams are noted. the Knicks are a very good team.

As a knicks fan, these EC teams scare me come playoff time
Heat, Bulls (Rose), celtics, Pacers, Nets, Bucks

What teams come playoff time scares heat fans?

YOU aren't doing it, but damn near every other NY fan in general is. There lies the problem. Stop looking for validation man, because we already know the Knicks have a good team. But if you're honestly going to tell me that 2 wins in the regular season against any elite team has any relevance towards when the games truly matter, then you're in for a big surprise. It's not an excuse, it's reality whether you want to believe it or not.

“I was telling people the Knicks were going to be good,” Chris Bosh said. “Even New York Knicks fans didn’t believe me. I felt that they were going to be a very good team and were going to challenge us. I was thinking about them all summer because I know they were thinking about us. … The rivalry is back.”

It's too early to tell, because who knows what Rose will look like. If he's healthy, then they're right up there with the Knicks are real threats I think. It speaks to how just how good I think Rose is as a player. Boston will get better, but I'm not really sold on Indiana at all to be honest.

No thats what MJ did. Plenty of champions have held back some during regular seasons. And technically if MJ raised his game in the playoffs doesn't that mean he held back some in the RS?

Im in for no surprise, I am a Mets/Jets/Knicks fan. Living in reality is in my DNA. Since I started watching sports at 12 years old in 1976 my teams have won a grand total of ONE major league championship. Jets 0 Mets 1 knicks 0.

I am grounded in the reality of losing. i know what it takes to get there and this Knicks team if different than any team they have had since Ewing,Oakley,Staks, Mason, and harper were on the brink every year. The Bulls never had a test in the NBA finals tougher than the seamingly countless series against New York in the ECF. this team is just as tough and probably deeper. I saw it in the preseason, the rest of the NBA is learning itnow. This is a 55-60 win team.

wow, tough to hear. Some of the all time greats, MJ, Bird, Kobe, and a couple others, actually become hungrier after winning a chip. It becomes like water to them. They need it, or else. Hopefully LeBron has that, and can get his team together by late season.

Lebron is not the issue, he is a stud and was trying all by himself to win last night an assist shy of a triple double.

I wonder if any Heat players have spoken to him about these comments. I haven't addressed the subject, but Bosh is just being honest here. I'm disappointed to hear this coming out of his mouth, but his play for the most part doesn't resemble that of a guy who "isn't" hungry. In all honesty, it's Wade that I'm kinda down on because he's been consistently inconsistent. And postgame, he sounded very nonchalant compared to the other guys.

LBJ is the one guy I don't worry about, because he's the only one along with Spo that sounded and looked pissed after the loss. Only time will tell if it means anything to come......

you have to really not understand the NBA if you don't think some guys who KNOW they are in for 20 game playoff runs don't hold back at various points of the season.

Never said LeBron was the issue, I don't see that from him. Wade has been off and on this year, effort wise, but its early in the regular season. Not every defending champ, or eventual champ, steam rolls the regular season.

I think we are perhaps being unfair to Bosh here. He is playing his best basketball since coming to Miami right now and clearly is motivated. He's the second best player on the team this season.

I think wiht some players, they just have a goal. I mean, guys like Barkley, Gervin, Malone and Stockton, they never even won a single ring, so guys coming in the league no there is more to it than just being great. You set a goal and your whole life you work toward tht goal and it feeds your motivation, then you get there and achieve and what's next?

For guys like Jordan, and I think LBJ, and Kobe, it's about legacy. They want to win every play. They want to win every game. They want to go 16-0 in the post season. So they have this crazy drive. I think Garnett has that too, and though you don't see it in Duncan as you do with Garnett and Kobe, who yell and scream, it is stil present in Duncan as well.

Other players, you can see that they are content with one. I mean, Sheed, after he got one, he just starting jacking up 3's... I didn't see him as playing as hard afterward. I saw he gave up on plays and started hoisting up three where before he would have went to the post.

But Bosh, I see what he's saying, and I understand it. But he still clearly plays god basketball. He's just being more frank than most players would be.

For guys like Jordan... it's about legacy

Jordan was never about Legacy. He was one of the most competitive people on the planet.

The same applied to Wilt Chamberlain and Magic.

Just read about Magic/Jordan dream team scrimmage game. They played that game as hard as a playoff game, where NOBODY could see them play, and nobody was being Paid.

They did it because of Pride. They wanted to be the Best on the floor, every floor, and Every time. And they wouldn't accept anything less than Winning, whether it was regular season, the play offs, or the Championship.

You don't go 72-10 AND win the Championship multiple times by not having that fire EVERY year you step on the court.

Pathetic. King James is stuck with declining Wade and not motivated Bosh. I'm tired of watching King James do everything on the Heat.

We all wish you'd just stop watching then, so we don't have to keep reading your incessant whining about Wade. Take a page out of ManRams playbook and gain some perspective instead of being a constant disruption.
