View Full Version : Lakers...remember when?

Remember when the lakers were going to beat the Bulls 72-10 record? Just go 64-0 the rest of the way and they can at least tie it.

This is why you never listen to predictions before they actually play the games.

In the end, I still believe the lakers will challenge in the west.

Who said this? If you're referring to MWP's comments, you actually took him seriously?

I'm glad you posted this, because had you not, I would not have known.

Thanks.

Lakers need to blow that abomination of a team they have up. Too many selfish players and a dreadful coach is not a good combo.

Maybe if D'Antoni never showed up but now you guys have no chance unless you tear down that roster. He has nobody who fits his system on his team other than Nash who is hurt.

There were definitely posters on here predicting/arguing that they'd break the record, giving the impression that's what Lakers fans thought, but it was only the overzealous superhomers that aren't really representative of the fanbase as a whole.
Nice to see the biggest one is still guaranteeing things, though.

Lakers are basically going to have go through this season without a coach and hope Nash can be that player-coach. Mike D'Antoni is not a coach he's just like the dad who drives everyone to the games and brings all the kids gatorades.

I remember multiple fans on PSD saying this as well. Same with Miami before their first season.

This is eerily similar to when they got the Mailman and Glove to play w/ Kobe and Shaq. I predicted just mail in the trophies. Is there such a thing as too much talent assembled too quickly?

You definitely should never listen to predictions on PSD. That's for sure. However, I don't think there were many credible sports opinions, or knowledgable sports fans, who were predicting a record season.

Myself, I'm standing by my prediction of 53 wins. Then again, I made it on PSD. So ignore it.

I really hope they win it all just so all you on here will shut the hell up. And I'm not even a Lakers fan.

I wish 1 Laker fan would at least admit that they remember someone else predicting the Lakers would win 70 games. That's what this forum was after the trade. It was the complete opposite of now, there were as many 70 win type posts as Lakers suck haha posts now. Funny thing, the teams chances to win it all haven't really changed since then.

Steve Nash injured. He'll, even Steve Blake injured.

They'd be 82-0 had he not gotten injured. Book it.

Kobe is The black hole of this team. He's selfish .. he gets to much credit but no blame 31 shots for 39 points .. anybody can do that.. yet he'll get credit for a great game. Laker fans need to wake up .. Dwight knows he cant play with kobe I dont believe anyone can

Kobe has no business jacking up 31 plus shots with the best center in the league. But Dwight just isn't assertive enough.

My point wasn't so much that the Lakers were bad, as to point out that predictions are just guesses. Nash Kobe, Gasol, and Dwight was supposed to destroy all and blow away the thunder and heat. It just isn't that easy.

I also happened to mention tht LA should still be there in the end if they put things together.

At what point are we going to keep some perspective and not allow the superhomers on this site to cloud our judgment on a certain fanbase?

It's threads like these that are the reason that the savior dbroncos78087 hate the NBA forum.

:sigh:

Yeah, basketball is unpredictable, as are all sports. No need to make a trolling thread to remind us. Yes, there are ultra-homers on every team. Yes, those people are worth ignoring.

I was just thinking last night how wrong I was about this team...but then remembered that it's the first week of December and what happens now really doesn't matter.

They've been a disappointment thus far that's for sure. Let's see if they can pick it up as the season wears on.
