View Full Version : Gasol to the Hawks

This trade would make plenty of sense.

The Lakers send Gasol to the Hawks in exchange for Josh Smith and Devin Harris.

I think Gasol would be a perfect fit in Atlanta. They're not a fast paced type of team.

For the Lakers, they get an expiring contract in Josh Smith, but they also get a guy that Dwight Howard wanted to play next to. He's young (26) and athletic. He'd have no problems in D'Antoni's uptempo offense and would probably excel in it. With Nash out and now Blake out, getting a guy like Devin Harris would really help their team. When healthy it would be... Nash, Bryant, Peace, Smith and Howard.

actually a pretty good trade idea.

Gasol is not a part of what Ferry wants to do in ATL (seen with trading Joe's contract and gathering expirings). Pass.

- The Hawks ARE a relatively fast paced team. They got rid of two slow overpaid slow players: Marvin Williams and Joe Johnson. No use adding an slow overpaid player.

- Danny Ferry already tried to acquire Dwight Howard but Orlando's GM said he did not want to deal Howard within the division. Ferry will pursue him again, unless Dwight signs an extension in-season.

- Keeping/resigning Josh Smith is a part of attracting Howard for the Hawks. They've already cleared the cap space.

- Therefore, no, this doesn't make sense for the Hawks.

If the Hawks end game is really gambling on Dwight then this doesn't make sense otherwise I have absolutely no idea why they wouldn't accept a Smith for Gasol swap.

Ferry said no to Gasol for Smith straight up, why in the world would he do this. It would be In the Lakers favor even if you take out Harris
