View Full Version : Guys who floundered after leaving a certain team..

Who are some guys who were seemingly in their prime, stars or borderline stars, but fell off after they left the teams that they made names for themselves on? It can be for any reason and from any area.

I thought about this when thinking of Shawn Kemp. He was a stud in Seattle, but made no real noise after leaving the Sonics. I remember last seeing him in Orlando depressingly overweight in his early 30s. Guy looked like a future HOFer at one point. I could be wrong, but I think I heard it had something to do with a drinking problem.

Anyhoo, who else comes to mind?

Just reading the title alone, Shawn Kemp came to mind on cue. He was actually still a solid player for a while after he left Seattle, but him and GP were never the same when they split...

Lamar Odom...

Guy went from being a 6-MOY / All-Star talent to scrub.

Also, Michael Redd came to mind for some reason. He kinda started to fall off at the end of his Milwaukee career due to injuries anyway, but he was worthless after he left the Bucks.

Eric Gordon. Andrew Bynum.

Can we try to leave injuries out of this? I think the thread poster was trying to get at guys who were good for one team and either left/traded/free agency and it didnt work out.

Lamar Odom might be the best example.

Another name that comes up Knicks fans remember is Steve Francis.

I'd say Vince Carter. He was never what he was with the Nets that he became with Orlando, Phoenix, and Dallas.

Eric Gordon. Andrew Bynum.

Bynum and Gordon are still question marks. Once they play we'll know if they floundered. I think the thread idea is more for guys who've played for another team. Gordon has done well when he's played for the Hornets.

I thought BJ Armstrong was going to be really good after he left the bulls. I was wrong. Ben Gordon is a good answer. I don't ****ing know anymore. ummm..... Marquise Daniels?

I know he was older, but Pippen just stunk for the Rockets. He just really seemed to not give a crap.

Odom comes to mind, but in his defence he played well with the Clippers, Heat and Lakers before he started having trouble.

Kemp is a great example.

VC... never returned to the glory of his Toronto days after being traded.
