Worst signing ever. As I posted on the Mavs board...this move has Rick Carlisle written all over it. He hates young players and sucks at developing them (there's a track record there all the way back to when he got fired for making Prince ride the bench). Why Rick can never trust young players the way an organization like the Spurs does...I'll never know.

Crowder has a DNP this year for no good reason. The best Mavs draft pick in ages and he even has to ride the pine. And now we're going to make our mediocre point guards ride the bench for a point guard who has never posted a league average PER in his entire career.

Mavs must be missing J. Kidd's old ***.

Kidding, Fish is a solid leader.

Yep.

Interesting signing though. Don't see why the need for him though. Lakers on the other hand, could have used him. We have a bunch of dead weight PG's, and Fisher could have been the best one as sad as it sounds. Well, until both the Steve's come back.

you must have yet to see dominic jones play  really outside of collison we have nobody else + Roddy B turns the ball over way to much

You must not watch the Mavs play. You talk up Collison then mention Roddy turns the ball over too much...Collison turns the ball over more per 36 minutes than Roddy (2.6 to 1.8). And you talk like DoJo has done poorly. DoJo has been a MUCH better facilitator than Collison, in fact, heading in to tonight, DoJo had more assists per 36 minutes than any other player in the league who had played at least 100 minutes, except Rajon Rondo.

After tonight, DoJo is down to 10.9 ast per 36 minutes...4 better than Collison. DoJo also gets to the foul line more than Collison, gets WAY more rebounds (6.9 to 2.5), gets more blocks and more steals. The only thing Collison does better is shoot...and it's not enough of a difference to overcome all of the areas DoJo soundly outplays Collison.

Easy decision for Fish, he's starting!

When Collison had a good game Tuesday in Philadelphia coming off the bench, coach Rick Carlisle said he liked what he saw.

“I loved the way he played in Philly,” said Carlisle, who announced the Fisher news after the Mavericks’ 101-78 blowout loss to Chicago on Wednesday night. “I think that’s a great role for him right now. I think Fisher can help us as a starter. This is a great opportunity for Darren to develop into a true starting point guard in this league.

Fish gets to start at his age and in the nba, it's a no brainier.

Sucks for the Mavs. I really don't think too much of Fisher. As a locker room presence, fine. But the Mavs are already stacked with those kind of guys - Brand, Dirk, Marion, etc.

I thought he wanted to be on a contender.

I still wouldn't count out the Mavs if Dirk can return and be a superstar again. They're a deep team with a lot of proven vets and solid role players who've checked their egos at the door - Marion, Brand, Collison, Mayo, Caman, VC, etc. All they need is a superstar to lead them - Dirk.

I've been saying it all along, with a healthy Dirk, the Mavs can definitely be an under the radar contender in the West.

Why?

This.

I don't see how this helps either party. The Mavs don't get better (certainly not significantly) and Fisher won't be winning a title with them this season.
