View Full Version : Fully healthy, how would the Lakers do without Kobe instead of with Kobe?

Plug in a generic outside shooter, decent defender in place of Kobe. Obviously they lose star power. But not everything in the NBA is about star power (or is it?).

Nash gets to run the D-Antoni show without any interruptions. Howard gets more touches in the paint, where he and nash can just demolish any type of defense put up against them. Pau doesn't have to be relegated to the role of facilitator because he will get Kobe's touches.

Basically it's the Suns team of the mid '00s with their weaknesses covered. You've got defenders in Howard and World Peace. You've got a post presence in Gasol. And Nash is still Nash doing his little dance.

What do you guys think? Discuss.

I think the chemistry would be better for sure. Dwight would be the man, Pau wouldn't be so scared of taking criticism and rebuke from overrated chucking declining cancer who began his career as the backup singer to Eddie Jones. Steve Nash would dribble all he wants without having to worry about who gets fed first and having Kobe take the ball out of his hands for the majority of the 24 second shot clock.

Without Kobe, it'd be Showtime once again.

With Kobe, it's more like Muppet Time.

If you replace Kobe with a guy like Kyle Korver, they'd go undefeated.

Championship.

Without Kobe hogging Dwight will dominate and Pau will feed off that energy.

Lol Kobe has been the only bright spot for the lakers this year.

Championship for sure.

Colby has been way too efficient for the teams good. Take him out and it gives Dwight and Pau the chance to dominate.

They would probably win multiple championships in the same season. Kobe is a maniac chucker who has never done anything in the NBA to warrant him being great. I was honestly hoping they would bench Kobe instead of Gasol last night.

lets be serious here.
without kobe, they arent a championship team.
lakers need a scorer and someone to go to, and kobe fits that well, the only problem is his shot selection has always been questionable..

and with the talent around him (especially defensively), they really need him to be effecient consistently for them to be in contention.

and that is where the head coach comes in and draws up plays.

but i have no doubt in my mind that the lakers are better with kobe.

if kobe doesn't stop thinking about who scores more points and who get more touches, we gonna loose DH...last night was a perfect situation to show that Kobe always gonna be Kobe...if he only learn to play for the team and not for him self, Lakers not gonna go anywhere this year..

I watched the game a bit yesterday.
Lakers have 0 chemistry. They don't pass, they don't run plays, they shoot contested jumpshots, make a lot of stupid turnovers their defense just sucks and they look like they are really lazy to play. I think it starts with the coach. Coach should involve all the players on the court, make them share the ball, however they are playing like "its my time to shoot now". Dwight should definetely get much more touches than he gets. Kobe, Pau and Howard should play together, and play the way to improve each other.

To answer the question, no they would be a bottom team in the west without Kobe.

Last night(Grizz)he try to take over in the 4th vs Tony Allen which made no sense what's so ever while D12 was doing a great job in the post finding open players like Meeks and Duhon but nah Kobe ball HOG the ball and never give it back to D12.

Dwight 3-7 and 3-6 from the line. Yeah I'd trust him when the game's on the line.
