It's hard to think about or imagine now because he's so broken down in Dallas, but wow, reminscing and looking back on that, I think he may have had more athleticism at his absolute prime than LeBron now.

It's painful, sometimes. From "Half-Man, Half-Amazing" to "99% Man, 1% Amazing" now. But still we'll always have highlights of the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest, back when it was, you know, good.

Yup.

V.C was a freak, greatest dunker of all time as far as I'm concerned.

I doubt we'll ever see anything like him ever again..plus unlike Gerald Green..he's actually one of the best players of all time (Top 100)

That's a pretty big thing to doubt. How can people ever say things like that. Oh yea you can predict the future eh?

that arm-fully-extended windmill is just so elegant and harmonious, he was not raw athleticism as in Blake Griffin, He was purely smooth and creative. unique style, never seen one quiet like him before, and highly doubt I'll see that again.

Really? Do you know the man? Do you know what is going through his head? Are you a sports psychologist?

2000 twas a good year. Ya it's sad to watch these vids at the moment.

and yea he was just as athletic and explosive as lebron. More artistic and smooth tho which makes his dunks so jaw dropping.

makes me wonder how Kobe was able to maintain his 'greatness' all of these years.

Not only was his dunk contest performance legendary, he is one of the greatest in game dunkers. Not like shaq who has height and power, but the degree of difficulty in his in game dunks was phenomenal.

Wow, incredible athlete, maybe the best dunker we've ever seen with the perfect combination of absolute grace and raw power. It's true what they say- Father Time catches up with everyone. We may never see another dunker like Vince Carter.

What made him the great dunker he was was the fact that what some players struggle to do in dunk contest, he would do in game and sometimes with defenders on him.

As much times as I seen him dunk in game, it would always amaze me all over again like it was the 1st time seeing it.

Cant say there will never be someone better, but its just they have A LOT to compare to.

What happened to all the 6'6" dunking shooting guards? Seemed like during the 2000's there was so many of them. Now we have all these combo guards flooding the NBA.

That's what happens when you rely on athleticism. When you are in your 30's you will look like a shell of your self. Greatest dunker of all-time though

how did he not keep his body in shape? NO ONE can maintain the physique they maintained in there 20s. It's just not natural even if you run everyday and hit the gym you still can't maintain the amount of physicality you had in your prime 20s. It's called being a human. And fathertime sucks I hate it. Vince was the man.

the first time I ever saw Vince Carter dunk in a game was the most exciting rush I've witnessed in sports (I've never had one of my team's win a ship) and it's also a curse cuz now watching the NBA or sports is not nearly as exciting

ThuglifeJ

it was spoiling to say the least. Because there's nothing like it now and we wasted prime VC/Tmac/AI years whining about how there not as good as Jordan, not as long as longevity as whomever, bla bla, and now there gone. Shame on us. If there was no Jordan, VC/Tmac/AI wouldn't have any hate and would be appreciated in their aging process more. Life's tough, the "good ol days" always gotta come to an end :(

edit: 25 points tnight. In 22 min. still got some game left!! (..I totally remember being somewhat mad now when VC didnt drop 30 some games with the Raps..)
