Sources: The Yankees have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Hiroki Kuroda.

The agreement with the Yankees and Kuroda is for $15 million, with some incentives that are worth less than $1 million.

Kind of figured this would happen. No surprise.

Solid signing for the Yankees. A little steep but the market is calling for higher prices. Maybe a couple extra mil. was the deciding factor for him signing with NY.

15 million plus incentives sounds about right coming off how he pitched and what he made last year

Is he really worth 15 million?

No, but we had to keep him. Our rotation needed someone consistent behind CC.

On a one-year deal? Absolutely.

On one year deals I don't think it was ever a question that they'd spend money.

Definitely worth 15M on a one year deal after what he did last year.

Dozens of people will say "is he really worth $15M?" on a one year deal the dollar amount really doesn't matter.

But good for him, as a former Dodger, I only wish him the best.

MetsFanatic19

Solid for both parties. The Yankees really needed to keep him or get someone just as good as him.

I was hoping he would go back to the NL.
as someone who does not like the Yankees, I was looking deep into his statistics to see if anything stood out that would make me think he wont be able to repeat what he did last season. but I don't see anything to suggest that. he's been pretty consistent with what he did with the Yankees compared to what he did with the Dodgers.
I expect a similar season in 2013. damn.

He was the Yankees' best pitcher last year. If they didn't resign him there was no chance to make noise. Even with him the Yankees are still in trouble. Sure, they'll make the playoffs, but that's where it ends...

Phew. This was a must sign for us. Hiro was awesome last year and our rotation would be a major question mark had we not re-signed him. Not It's time to re-sign Andy and Mo.

Yankees aren't going to be spending any money, oh.

I'm not sure how this even remotely gets in the way of their plans to have the budget down to $189M for the start of the 2014 season.

Is it still up in the air?

You have to look at the signing like this: there weren't any options as good as him out there that they could have signed for $15 mil. Very nice signing.

Seems like we will know in a week or so. My guess is that he comes back for one more year and one more final run with Mo and Andy. Also would not be shocked to see ibanez come back and possibly ichiro. My guess is you will see virtually the same team as last year minus swisher and a couple of bench players.

I know people will hate on the Yanks but this is a really good signing.

No reason to hate on them for this. Kuroda had a great year last year and they really needed to bring him back to solidify the rotation. It is a good signing.

Yankees say that we should not expect much from him this year... but that he would most likely miss the first few months and then could possibly start the season in AAA. Honestly I am not sure where Pineda Fits right now. A lot will depend on how Nova and Phelps perform.

Good signing. Solid pitcher. I was hoping he would go to the Dodgers. I wanted a weaker Yankee rotation, but they resigned the guy they need.

That could be a huge addition if he can get healthy/back to form down the stretch

Absolutely. Pineda is also a MAJOR part of the 189 plan and the Yankees going forward. There is no need to rush him back right now. He needs to spend time in the minors and get completely right. That being said, I think we will see him in the second half. Lets also hope that Nova can have a bounce back year.

He was very impressive. Did not think he would translate well, but I also had not seen him much. Turns out he can hit 94, pitch consistently at 91-92, hits his spots, and can also spot his offspeed stuff...Good scouting by the Yankees to find an NL West to AL East arm that makes the transition with no problem.

Oh sweet jesus thank you. Hopefully this means we don't have to sign/trade for a dog shiet pitcher (Nolasco, Saunders etc.)

You should have seen how many Yankee posters were calling for him to be traded in late April after a somewhat slow start :laugh2:

The guy is a true gamer and makes our rotation so much better for next season.

I wonder why he didn't at least get a small multi year deal, he is a very quality pitcher that seems to get overlooked all the time.

I think he wants to keep going back to Japan as a capable pitcher an option, but it's just a guess.

Re-sign Ichiro now

agree unless we try and go out and get Bourne, I know Itchiro is getting old but he was great for us in September he was the big reason we won the AL East
