who would win in a 7-game series between the best of USA and the best of the World if the games were played right now and everybody was healthy and willing to play?

15 PLAYERS PER TEAM (I know it's usually 12)

USA team probably like this:

PAUL/WESTBROOK/WILLIAMS
BRYANT/WADE/HARDEN
LeBRON/DURANT/ANTHONY
LOVE/ALDRIDGE/BOSH
HOWARD/CHANDLER/DUNCAN

Omissions:
ROSE
IGUODALA
GAY
GRIFFIN
BYNUM

WORLD team something like this:

RUBIO/PARKER/NASH
GINOBILI/DENG/BARBOSA
BATUM/GALLINARI/KIRILENKO
NOWITZKI/IBAKA/SCOLA
M.GASOL/P.GASOL/NOAH

Omissions:
DRAGIC
M'BAH A MOUTE
BARGANI
VAREJAO
GORTAT

I know USA is better on paper, but the World team could give them major problems. If USA struggles shooting, the World team would have a chance I think.

I'd say USA in 7 games. What do you guys think?

I wish they did something like this, like in Golf with the Ryder Cup. They could at least do it by continent. Europe, South America and Africa could probably give North America a run. They could combine Australia and Asia. World Cup of basketball or something, to replace the world championships.

i'd take the athleticism of team USA in a best of seven.

how much time does team world get to prepare the game.

with no previous preparation they wouldnt win cause team usa is been preparing and playing togheter for some years now.

it would be different if you could add a pair of stars from other country to either Argentina, France or Spain that have already a system and chemistry in place.

I think we are assuming equal preparation. You got the world?

I got either team winning in 7 with same preparation.

It's hard to say which team would win, but I think the team that would win is the team that wants it more.

I would first off start Varejao on the world team, or at least take him by a mile over Pau and Noah on the roster.

Even with that though, the athleticism of USA would be too much for the world team to handle. The world team would be pretty nice though if they play Parker at the point, and surrounded him with shooters on the perimeter. USA in 6.

A better argument would be team USA 2012 vs Team USA 1992 :D

4 game USA sweep and not even close!

The advantage that the other teams have in international play is that they have played together a lot more, they know each other and play VERY well as a team.

In this scenerio the other countries are all mixed together and many guys on that roster have NEVER played in a single game together.

Without that advantage, the series would rely on athleticism, individual talent and ability, and that is NO CONTEST!!!

The U.S. would steamroll the rest of the world.
USA:

PG - Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose
SG - Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, James Harden
SF - LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony
PF - Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge
C - Dwight Howard, Al Jefferson, Brook Lopez

World:

PG - Tony Parker, Steve Nash, Ricky Rubio
SG - Manu Ginobili, Leandro Barbosa, Ben Gordon
SF - Nicolas Batum, Luol Deng, Danilo Galinari
PF - Dirk Nowitzki, Pau Gasol, Serge Ibaka
C - All Horford, Joakim Noah, Marc Gasol

I think with the proper coaching Team World would make a series of it. You've got to remember that Team USA had problems against some teams in the Olympics that didn't even have the kind of talent the team you outlined had.

I made a post similar to this during the olympics, and most people overwhelmingly picked US, and said it would be a joke... but I think people underestimate chemistry on the court.

team usa would likely win, but team world would definitely make it tough. usa has so many ball dominant players, i think team world would have more chemistry and play better together as a team.

this is what they should do instead of an East - West All Star game.

its a team game, the internationals would have a great shot at upsetting the USA. Dont forget Duncan, he's from the Virgin Islands.

Let's see... Team USA has the 8 best players in the world and Team World is starting Rubio and Batum? Give me a break.

I'll take:

PG: Cp3

SG: Harden

SF: Durant

PF: Lebron

C: Monroe

And fly over/around/through Dirk + Gasol brothers if I'm America.

Synergy, passing ability, defense and a lack of ego on that squad.

I could probably make a few other squads that could or would win a best of 7 as well from the US side.

PG: Deron
SG: Kobe
SF: Rudy Gay
PF: Anthony Davis
C: D. Howard

PG: D. Rose
SG: D. Wade
SF: Paul Pierce
PF: Duncan
C: Tyson Chandler

etc.

makes sense...

the funny thing is on a team so full of ball dominate players, lebron would be very much needed since him and cp3 would be the usa's best passers and most unselfish players.
