I'm curious to know who people think is the most underrated player throughout there NBA career in the NBA today.

My vote is Jamaal Crawford ... he has bounced around so much throughout his NBA career I don't understand why he never got a longer deal. Every team he is on he is always a huge spark ..plays hard night in and night out ... I mean I remember a few years ago when Atlanta knocked Orlando out of the playoffs in the first round Crawford was the best player in that series for Atlanta and he was so clutch and since then he went to Portland and now clippers where he is playing great....

Alonzo Gee is growing on me. Hella good defender.

Obviously based on my sig id say OJ. Brandon Jennings is up there.

Crawford might be a little underrated by fans but respected by his peers...a few years ago there was a player poll that asked who the best player is in the NBA to never been an all star and crawford won handily.

most underrated player imo is Luc Richard Mbah a Moute

Have to be a homer because I haven't watched much non-Bobcats basketball, but Kemba Walker. A lot of people on PSD were ready to write him off as a bust after his rookie year, but he has looked solid so far this year.

Coming into tonight: 17/3/5 and 1.5 steals.

Tonight's line: 26/6/7 and 8 steals.

Really? Most Sixers fans on here love him I believe. What do you not like about him? From what I've seen he's a great shooter, good passer, and a solid defender. Not to mention he's only 22.

He's extremely talented but I need to see an all star type season from him before hailing him anything

Lamarcus Aldridge by far better than Blake Griffin & Ibaka but doesn't get the praise or respect because the team he plays on.

Also Monta Ellis, Josh Smith, half of the nuggets squad, Paul George, Roy Hibbert.

Paul George is widely expected in NBA circles to be a stud, according to many articles I've read. Same with Favors. It's tricky because they don't have to be yet, but have shown enough flashes to keep people excited, but in reality haven't totally proved to be superstars. I don't even know how to rate him. You might be right. Or wrong. I dunno!

Homer but Jeff Teague could get some more love (even with his head coach, more playing time).

Example so far this season compared to a top East PG in Deron Williams:

Teague:

PPG 16.3
RPG 3.3
APG 7.3
SPG 2.0
BPG 0.5
FG% 0.600
FT% 1.000
3P% 0.600
MPG 28.3

Williams:

PPG 15.8
RPG 1.0
APG 7.3
SPG 0.8
BPG 0.0
FG% 0.469
FT% 0.813
3P% 0.222
MPG 34.3

more productive in every category and in less minutes.

My pick is going to surprise some people, but RIGHT now I've to go with Wade. I hear people talk about Kobe, LeBron, Durant and even Harden but we forget about Wade, who's still one of the best players in the game. Same can be said about Duncan and Rondo, these guys are playing unbelievable.

Lee is an awful defender and overrated scorer IMO

Iggy is always underrated.

Iggy has been stellar defensively. Absolutely shut down Wade and Harden in respective games. Was 2 assists shy of a triple double this morning.

One of the main reasons he is underrated, is his main attribute on the court is his on ball defense and it doesn't show in stats. Guys like Iggy, Tony Allen, Brandon Jennings will always be underrated. But their defense makes them great players.

Iggy not even making a defensive team last season? A downright shame on the part of the NBA. Still the most underrated player in the NBA for much the same reasons that Manimal pointed out.

Here on PSD recently no question in my mind that its Blake Griffin. Blake has gone from being partially overrated to extremely underrated and ignorantly hated because of his ways that get under people's skin. When you hear assholic comments like Blake is a product of CP3, can only dunk, all of his dunks are offensive fouls that aren't called and if CP3 leaves the Clipps his true colours would shine its utterly idiotic. The man did something as a rookie no other PF in the history of the game has ever been able to do and contrary to dumbass belief actually helped CP3 last season in much the same way CP3 helped him but people say he wouldn't be any good without him :bs:

Blake is called overrated due to people on PSD, Some people say he is the BEST PF in the NBA which he is not. He still have much to prove.

JasonJohnHorn

Duncan. He's playing at such a high level right now. On NBA.com they actually have Parker in the "MVP Ladder" and NOT Duncan. there is not a single PF in the league that has been playing better than Duncan so far this season, though Z-Bo is rebounding the ball like a mad man right now.

Oh, and Z-Bo is hugely underrated right now too ;-)

And the OP is right . Crawford is underrated. I think people see him as a scorer first, but he is a decent all-around player. ATL would have been a better team had they kept him.

So right. I set up a poll last season for DPOY and left Iggy off, and I heard it from almost EVERYBODY. He is a great defender, and one of the mods added him to the poll and if I remember right, he came away with the most votes. Fans, I think, appreciate Iggy, but he doesn't get that much love from sports writers and the medie in general.

And Blake, yes, he is such a great talent and there seems to be a backlash against him for some reason. I don't give a $#!T about dunk contests, and yes his dunk over the car was lame, but seriously, BEFORE CP3 came to the Clippers Blake was a 20/10 player AS A ROOKIE!!!! How many rookies come into the league and average 20+ an 10+? Seriously? I can't think of a guy that didn't put out a performance like Blake in his rookie season and then did NOT make it into the HOF. Blake is easily the best young PF in the game outside of Love.
