Was it intentional? Will he be suspended?

To me it looked intentional, but I think the ejection is enough. Didn't expect something like that from T.R. though - I like him a lot and he seems like a genuine nice dude.

Thoughts?

I did. He's a very good player. I'm sure he out-assisted the entire Kings team.

Meh. Robinson was obviously in the wrong and deserved to be ejected, but I think Jerebko exaggerated it a little. I don't think he should be suspended.

How are people calling this a flop?? Have you ever been elbowed in the throat? Of course you will fall down!! Definitely was being held by Jerebko but that doesn't excuse throwing the elbow, suspension is definitely needed! Can't have the young kids growing up seeing that it is ok to throw an elbow.

Yea, if you watch the whole thing Jerebko was wrapping his arms around him pulling him. T-Rob did throw a dirty elbow there, and Jerebko over reacted big time. Listen to him hit the ****ing floor. If he got hit that hard in the throat he'd be dead due to his throat being crushed. And when you get hit in the throat like that, you do not nearly land on your ****ing head. He could have EASILY went to a knee with out being a dramatic ***** about it. Seriously, he probably hurt himself flopping to the ground.

I mean seriously, the guys ready to get up right away, just kind of rubbing it a bit, then they tell him to stay down and he over plays it like crazy. What a *****

Dude, watch the video, it was a clear flop. If he hit anything important or "deadly" enough to send him flopping like a fish, he wouldn't have been able to put his hand up to get up 5 seconds after he fell to the ground. It was a complete over reaction and he should be awarded with a warning from the league

I'm taking it you've never been hit with a back elbow to the throat. The entire area is nerve clusters and it feels like your esophagus collapsed. That's why throat strikes are illegal in MMA, and why they teach you to attack the throat in self-defense courses.

Here's an example. With your dominant hand, extend out your thumb and hold your four fingers straight out together to form an L. With the soft part of the joint between your thumb and index finger (the softed part of your hand, with no bone or muscle there) hold it one inch away from the front of your throat like you were going to choke yourself. Now tap your throat about as hard as you would knock on a door. Sucks, doesn't it? Now imagine if that were the hard bone point of an elbow, with 5x the force.

If you watch the video, he was hit in the face if anything (still ridiculous no doubt) and I am saying if you are hit with the hard bone point of an elbow to the throat by a 250 pound dude, your throat would collapse. Thanks for "trying" to educate me on the matter, but maybe you should try reading what I said next time before you go on your rant like a douche bag know it all, just sayin.

If he was hit in the throat by the elbow with a lot of force, or as much force that almost sent him head first into the floor (over reaction part) he would not have been reaching for players' hands to get up he would have been holding his throat grasping for air, NOT laying on his back talking to the trainers. I know how weak the throat area is, and with how he reacted to getting hit, and how hard he hit the ground...doesn't add up. He flopped majorly.

That's not a really good argument. It's also possible that he took the majority of the pain within the first few seconds, then caught his breath quickly too. You don't know how he felt, yet you still remain ignorant of the play.

Also, answer the other part of my question. Who else on Detroit flops? And please give me another time Jerebko did. I'm very interested by this silly claim.

You caugt me, I don't watch the Pistons games...I don't watch ****** basketball. Sorry :(

You realize how sensitive the throat is right? You don't "take" the pain in a few seconds lol. That's something that literally stops you from breathing which is why you see people on their knees grasping for air when they are hit in the throat, and BY JUDGING HOW HARD HE HIT THE GROUND, he should be dead right now. I mean for ****s sake you could hear him hit the ground while the announcers are talking, fans are cheering and whistles are blowing and it still sounded like he just got Diamond Cuttered onto the floor

I never said he did - I said that could a been what happened. Once again you fail to grasp the idea I have, and that is no one knows what truly happened and how hard TRob hit Jerebko. It's not hard for me to comprehend at all. I saw a guy almost land head first onto the floor like it was some sort of action movie and Jean Claude Van Damme just kicked closelined the **** out of him. I like Detroit's future a lot more than I like Orlando's, only problem is that we have some bad contracts, but two are done after next year and one the year after.

You're right - hopefully they don't. Who are you younger guys again? Afflalo (whose probably as good as I'm gonna be), Harkless, Nicholson and Vucevic? Exciting! A few picks should be alright

Good player that got a little upset at another player. Jerkebo couldn't get position on T Rob a couple of times and was pulling jersey/shorts, wrapping his arms around T Rob and basically doing all he could to irritate T Rob.

Now none of that means the elbow was justified but if you screw around enough with a guy he might just let you have it. I am not sure about suspension for this, a game maybe I mean who knows. I guess it will all boil down to which side of the bed David wakes up on.

Your team isn't the "badboy Kings," it's just plain bad. The whole issue is attitude too because all of those players seem to be playing for the name on the back of the jersey instead of the one on the front.

Actually, the Kings announcers are known to be some of the more popular team-announcers in the NBA and other announcers from other teams highly respect them. If the Kings were to move and the announcers don't want to leave Sacramento, I could see the Kings head announcer get a national job like Kevin Colabro did when he chose to stay in Seattle when the Sonics left.

It is a shocking blow. It doesn't have to be enough force to collapse the windpipe (which is 33lbs of pressure). It's all nerve endings around the neck and getting hit there with even a modicum of force when you're not expecting it is painful and shocking. It's the same reason why getting ball tapped drops a guy to the ground. Did he get hit hard? No. Is there permanent damage? No. But it hurts like heck.

And you're the one telling EVERYBODY else that they're wrong about something you seem to know nothing about. Know-it-all douchebag, indeed.

It was intentional, it was also a gigantic flop. That dude should be fined. If you've ever played ball and have been elbowed before you never instantly drop to the ground.

Honestly it was a flop, calm down. He did hit him and he deserved a suspension, but that was clearly a flop.. it's not a big deal.. On a scale of 1-10 it was about a 5.. we're not saying it was all flop, but he could of won an award for that performance.

Perfectly calm. You should read some a the previous posts about no one except Jerebko knowing how hard he was truly hit or if he flopped. I don't feel like I need to reiterate it another time.

The problem is even though it wasnt as hard of a hit as It looked at first TRob still through his elbow back with intent it wasnt a accident so the punishment should be the same no matter if he connected or missed.

Haha, I honestly cannot believe people are calling this a flop! It isn't like Jerebko knew it was coming and moved his head at exactly the right time to make it look real. Robinson truly hit him in the jaw/neck area.

Off topic, but the Kings announcers have gotta be the worst in the NBA no? How can that fan-base stand to listen to these monotonous guys. "oh wow....that was uncalled for....that was bad...bad move...that was bad."

Napear is a total tool. Jerry is a legend and can do whatever the **** he wants.

Keep losing, Detroit

At least we are losing a few games and not our entire team when it moves. Be proud of being the "bad boy kings" and tell me how great your defense is and you let the Pistons score 103 on you... I guess that dominant Defense against a team that hasn't won a game must have been brutal... maybe we should have scored 140 but that hard core D stopped us?

Seriously, dude got hit in the throat and he reacted, I hardly call that a flop. You see it differently and that is expected especially when you see dominant defense and a group of bad boys when you look at the Kings and I see a team that wont even be in the playoffs with a fan who calls our team bad when they arent very much better.

I like how people can say that wasn't intentional. Walking off the court he indicates that Jerebko was holding him, so it was okay.

Holding the guy is good justification for elbowing him in the throat?:facepalm:

On whether his perception of the incident changed.

Not at all. I was wrong. I was 100 percent at fault. And I didn’t have a change of mind of anything.

On what teammates and coaches said to him after the game about the foul.

I just gotta be smarter with my decisions. And it was a bad decision; it was a bad choice that I made. You know I made it already. I can’t change it. If I could I would, it’s something I have to live with and I’ll move on from here.

On whether he’s ever lost his cool like this before.

Not at all. Unfortunately, I’m not perfect. I would love to be, but I made a mistake. It rarely happens to me. Never been in that type of situation before. I’ve never been ejected from a game or anything of that sort of matter. So I definitely take full responsibility and I apologize to the whole organization, fans and anybody who were supporting me. It won’t happen again.

On if trash talk from Jerebko led to the incident.

Just frustration. It’s nothing he did. Chirping is a part of the game, talk is a part of the game. And that’s something that I have to adjust to, that I have to learn to. These guys are professional whether its trash talking, whatever – they’re pros. It got under my skin. I let it get to me, so it was a mistake.

Geoff Petrie, Wayne Cooper and Shareef Abdur-Rahim all spoke to Robinson before he met with media following practice. On what the members of Kings front office told him:

That you have to learn how to control your emotions. And like I said, I’m pretty good with it usually. But I’m on a different level and somehow, he found a way to do something nobody ever did to me. And that was get under my skin and like I said, I take full responsibility.

On if he got a chance to talk to Jerebko after the game.

I didn’t get a chance to. Once you get ejected, you can’t come back in. So you know if I could, I would. I apologize to him. I hope everything is okay with whatever area I attacked on him.

On whether Jerebko was getting physical and was trash talking.

It’s just a part of the game. Whatever he did, it’s a part of the game. It’s something I fell for.

On how he feels today.

I feel pretty bad today. I feel worst today after the aftermath. You know I knew I was wrong. So as a man, I have to take responsibility with that and I’ll take my consequences and move on. And hopefully this doesn’t stick with me because I’m not that type of person. I’m not a bad kid, you know I just made a mistake and it won’t happen again

Wait, what? Thomas Robinson has issues with maturity? You do realize this guy was the unanimous, nationally-know definition of maturity in the sports world right? Everyone knows his story. He lost his mother and both grandparents in the same month recently, and still went on to be one of the top players and leaders in college basketball. Everyone marveled at how he was able to cope with his tragedies and continue to be a humble leader. When he was drafted, athletes from all sports, music artists, sports writers, and fans all over the country were talking about how happy and deserving and mature this guy is for his young age. If you think Thomas Robinson has maturity issues, I'd hate to see what you think of the rest of the NBA. (but I'm with you on that one because the NBA is full of babies...starting with the biggest one of all, dwight howard)

Yeah I give Robinson a lot of credit, he got caught up in the heat of the game and made a mistake that was all. He went out of his way to fully apologize later on which goes a long way. I like the kid, I think he really showcased himself as being a respectable person and took a mistake and turned it into a chance to show that off... that's a good look. This could have turned into a PR nightmare for him, but instead he probably gained the attention and respect of people who may not have noticed him yet.
