Even though the league just started with Harden now a starter does Manu come back as the favorite 6th man? I think JR Smith through the first few games has definitely made himself a possible candidate but with Shumpert eventually coming back he could lose minutes. Ray Allen could be up there too if they featured him more coming off the bench but playing on a team with the big three in Miami makes it difficult for him to do anything but shoot 3's. If JR can keep up the pace he's at there's no way he wont be at least top 3 in the league in 6th men

Jeeze wait to be unbias....

Anyways my dark horse is Jamal Crawford, he's been great and should get a lot of minutes off the bench at 2 guard.

Mike Dunleavy Jr. of the Bucks should get some votes. That obviously is my homer pick. If not him its gotta be Ray Allen so far. Hes been great for the Heat so far. It is jsut way to damn early to tell tho

I suspect JR Smith will be in the starting line-up soon...

Ray Allen and Kevin Martin are on the top of my list, though if Dante Cunningham Blair continue to have nights like they did last night they may be on the list. Jamal Crawford to.

Still too early to tell though. Line-ups may change and some of these guys may be starting soon.

Jamal Crawford will probably get it but I think Manu Ginobili will be more deserving. Crawford is hyped pretty hardcore right now (and is currently deserving of it). It's only been a few games and I expect a huge drop off soon, but maybe I'll eat my words.

Ray Allen. But JR Smith should be up there as he will get a lot of scoring chances

If Jamal Crawford keeps up his play he should get it. He is killing it right now for the clippers! I love watching his game.

6th man of the year award has often been two or max 3 guys race.
But this season with James Harden out of the picture it seems realy close. There is many guys who have a good shot at this award.

Jason Terry - Haven't start this season too well, but he was one of the favorites for this award before the season so you can't rule out Jet. He also have a lot of time to turn it around in Boston :)

Jr Smith His played well so far for the unbeated Knicks. Hes geting a starter minutes and has put up some nice all-around stats, if his PT wont drop after Iman return he sure will be one of the canditates.

Louis Williams - Williams made some noise in last year race and this season it seems that he have even bigger role in Hawks then he had with 76ers. With Johnson out of the Atlanta Williams has been go-to guy in the 4th quarter for the Hawks so far. He will probably avarage around 17-20ppg and thats impresive for a 6th man.

Ray Allen Allen has had realy solid start in Florida. He seems to be almost too perfect fit for the Heat. Allen as a 3pt specialist will get a tons of wide open shots from D-Wade and Lebron all season long and also will be alot around media noise ( wich will help to get some votes i belive).
Guy is definitely one of the favorites to win this award.

JJ Reddick - JJ has been spectacular so far. Not only scoring the ball but also finding open players. He wont obviosly continue to be 22ppg and 6 apg guy, but he will have a big role in Orlando Magic not so talented offense and he will avarage very very good numbers for a guy who's coming off the bench.

Ryan Anderson - Last season most improved player might win another award this season? Well it's not impossibol, Anderson is playing starter minutes for Hornets and will avarage around 16-18ppg and 8-10rpg. Lamar Odom had 14 and 7 when he won.

Manu Ginobili - Dont forgot this guy! I think his still best player coming off the bench in the NBA. Last season he was out most of the regular season, but if he can stay healthy and Spurs finish again with the first seed in West... Why not Manu?

Kevin Martin - We all know why Thunder bring him. Martin has to take over James Harden role in OKC. He finally plays for contender and hes also plays for a contract so he will be realy motivated. He will score huge numbers off the bench for a very good team and that usualy means winning 6th man of the year award...

Jamal Crawford - After horribol year in Portland Crawford has found himself in realy good situation in LA. He has looked realy good so far, his making shots and crossing people over with style. He also is leading scorer for the Clippers with 24ppg. He looks good and explosive and is my favorite to win 6th man award this season.

Javale McGee - Yes, i know... whaaat you ask? I see him as a dark horse in that race, with season progressing i see him geting a lot more minutes in Denver and if he plays he will put up some nice numbers. My other ''dark horse'' is Marshon Brooks who will make Nets fans hating Joe Johnson trade even more.

What you guys think?

I still think this is the stupidest award.

6th man of the year award normally goes to a decent starter-type player who doesn't start because it fits better in his team rotation for him to come off the bench and play starter minutes.

Unlike other awards which reward excellence, the 6th man awards rewards a decent/borderline all-star type player for being in the right situation. There are easily 100+ players capable of winning it if put in the right situation.
