Compose a roster of 25 Free Agents. Any grouping of players is fine.

Include manager who currently is out of a big league job who you would put in charge of managing this roster.

Budget is turned off, you can compose a roster of whoever you want.

Once most teams are compiled, I may create a poll and we can vote on who chose the best rosters.

Use the follow format. Best of Luck. Have fun. Please take this seriously.

Probably wouldn't be that good of a team. Not your fault, it's that this free agent class is so weak. I'd think this is probably a 80-85 win team.

Yeah, it was kind of tough picking my middle infield, third baseman, and starters outside of Greinke and Kuroda. I think this oculd be a contender, though, but in no way shape or form a "powerhouse."

I would like to come up with a team, but I want to start by saying it's flawed. you could simply take the top 5 starting pitchers and put them on the same team. you could take 3 or 4 closers and put them all in the bullpen.

maybe a better way is to have a fair budget and for players to get paid based on comparing their recent numbers to other similar players in the league and how much they make. but that might be complicated and take more work.

Put Scutaro at 2B, Izturis at SS, Upton or Hunter (leaning towards Hunter)for Young and have Soria setting up and you're on to something. I would also have Randy Choate in the pen to balance it out.

Okay, same thing, but you have a 150 million dollar budget, and you have to sign each player to the assumed budget that Fangraphs estimates their next contracts to earn

Player costs
Swisher - 14 million
Upton - 13 million
Anibal Sanchez - 13 million
Greinke - 19 million
Pagan - 10 million
Melky - 8 million
Hamilton - 20 million
Kuroda - 12 million
Hunter - 10 million
Ortiz - 13 million
Dempster - 12 million
McCarthy - 10 million
Victorino - 10 million
Edwin Jackson - 12 million
Oswalt - 6 million
Blanton - 7 million
Scutaro - 8 million
Izturis - 5 million
LaRoche - 12 million
Drew - 8 million
Keppinger - 5 million
Hafner - 5 million
Villanueva - 6 million
Shoppach - 3 million
Delmon Young - 8 million
Lohse - 13 million
Napoli - 12 million
Bourn - 14 million
DiceK - 4 million
Youk - 8 million
Haren - 10 million
Soriano - 12 million
Affeldt - 8 million
Burnett - 6 million
Lindstrom - 4 million
Hawkins - 3 million
Girilli - 3 million
Uehera - 4 million
Hariston - 4 million
Pierre - 2 million
Ross - 2 million
Feldman - 5 million
Sizemore - 3 million
Berkman - 4 million
Olivo - 3 million
Martin - 5 million
Chavez - 3 million
Ichiro - 4 million

no matter how good of a team you put together, you can't do it with this free agent class and they be a 90 win team on paper and do it for under 200 million.

Free agency, the land of inefficiency.

I would like to go ahead and cancel my first team, and sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused.

I would like to go ahead and try to put together a team using the money payroll. my previous team if I added correct would come to a total of.. 217. that's too much.

EDIT: if a free agent is not listed above with a money number, would that mean he is $1 million?

EDIT part 2: do we have to follow the rules (if that's what they're called) about only picking players at the positions they are listed? example, Delmon Young at DH over the other players listed at DH. or are we allowed to use any offensive player at DH?

Now if you are the Yankees or Dodgers, 217 is worth it lol.

The first thing I thought when I was reading the OP's post was: "I wonder how long it'll take for some assshole to think it's funny to input one players name in all of the spots, like it's never been done before".

Yet again, you boys don't fail to impress.

JP Howell - $1
Randy Choate - $1
Derek Lowe - $1

as long as my math is correct, using the values from the 2nd page as well as the fangraphs link I posted.. this team would come to a total of, 141.
