I am surprised he would make a lateral move like that, maybe he thinks he has a better chance to be manager in LA if Mattingly fails than in St. Louis.

Or maybe him and Matheny didn't mesh.

Whats new though? Everyone is going to the Dodgers :D

Maybe he will be the righty to compliment Ethier and Crawford. Or maybe him and Mattingly can platoon off the bench

Lol, as I made my other post.

I think John Mabry would be the most logical choice, but I'd personally like to do something a little off the wall

Hire Berkman to be the hitting coach, and if he ever feels healthy enough, he can become activated and play, with incentive pay. If he doesn't feel well enough, then he is the hitting coach.

Better than coaching at Rice, and he is the most experienced, knowledgeable hitter I can recall. No way we come back in 2011 without his highly professional at bats.

Also went to USC. Cardinals were a solid hitting team while he was the hitting coach...hopefully he can help wake up the bats for LAD.

Jeffy25
11-02-2012, 05:46 PM
Pretty sure they already had two hitting coaches randomly enough, so they probably just stick with the other guy (Mabry I believe it was).

Mabry was the assistant hitting coach, I assume he logically gets the job.

Jeffy25

It was Mark Baduska, but I don't know if he keeps the job honestly (in Memphis) even.

Cardinals should hire Edmonds

RTL
11-02-2012, 06:05 PM
Some former Cards I would like to see interviewed:
Willie McGee
Jim Edmonds
Ray Lankford
Mark Sweeney (why not join him with Mabry)
JD Drew
Andres Galarraga

The pressure the Dodgers have been putting on themselves to be sucessful will make it an interesting season next year in the NL West.

The effect of hitting coaches is overrated anyway.

The Cardinals had a great offense, i don't think it would have mattered much who their hitting coach was.

It's good for McGwire to be closer to home but it's only a bigger headline because its about one of the more controversial figures in baseball.

no, it's what it feels like to be a Laker fan,

his whole career or just the most productive parts? Because i don't care if Clayton or Kemp leave the dodgers when they are like 37 and aren't as good, especially if there is someone better that we have. And do you really want posey if he is 36 can't start every day because of his knee's and is making 22 million? I get it, giants fans really like him, but i don't believe in Career players, they are anachronistic left overs from a time when players were indentured servants, i hate this romanticized notion of Lifers, because there is no loyalty between player and team

My Dad got offered a job there with like a 50% salary increase but we love living in CT so he didnt really consider it. Hes been there on business trips and said it was pretty cool. My entire family lives on the East Coast so it would be inconvenient. I really like living less than a couple hours from the beach personally.

How is Seattle?

Halladay

I'm not here to talk about the past.

No seriously, why did you leave a playoff team for the Dodgers?

that increase would go even further considering how much cheaper things are there, and while i bet it is nicer than the east coast right now because of Sandy, there are hella tornado's

Also, most places are nicer on vacation than to live in.

I don't live there, i am from the bay area, but my dad likes it a lot. The pacific north west is really nice.

I secretly am rooting for the Dodgers and any other team that DARES have a big payroll, and this is an excellent hire for them. Encouraging for their fans to see that they are willing to spend on coaching/development as well as the MLB roster. I didnt even know you were allowed to both invest in the ML roster talent AND hire coaching to help out players, young and old. Its so fn crazy it just might work...

Yea, you tried to bring up the same thing about dodgersuck. We know. Jeffy25 knows. I even told Jeffy I had no problem changing mine if this was the case.

That doesn't change the fact that you brought up Bonds and steroids in a thread about the new Dodgers hitting coach knowing not only that it was vastly unrelated, but that it would get a rise out of a Giants fan or other.

I brought it up, the official response to my understanding is 'it wouldn't be fair to users that have been around here long enough to expect them to change their user name now. We will handle it with new users, but it wouldn't be fair to long history users when it's basically our fault for not fixing it earlier'.
