View Full Version : Chris Paul or Rondo As the MVP?

Along with Rondo, I threw a couple hundred on the CP3 because I really believe what they do for their teams by seasons' end will push them over the top for the MVP. CP3, with the depth that team will have when Billups comes back, should have the Clippers as a top 2-3 team in the West and well over 50 wins while Rondo will also put up great statistics while pushing the Celtics into the second East seed at the very least as the engine of that team.

When I looked at this, I see Lebron as a constant that voters will take for granted because he's done it for so long and now has a lot of great players playing by his side in Ray, Bosh, Wade, etc. Meanwhile, CP3 and Rondo are the catalysts for any success that their teams will have.

Let me know what you think will happen and why or if you also took the plunge on one of the two.

It's really ballsy of you to throw a couple hundred on CP3 winning the NBA when LeBron James is still in his prime.. I mean LeBron should finish with 6 MVPs but we will have to see if the voters get tired of voting for him.

CP3 maybe, Rondo doesn't have a shot IMO...

Cp3 at least has a shot but neither
and im quickly becoming of the opinion that Rondo is overrated at this point

why the **** would you put money on rondo. he's good but no way is he winning the mvp. Durant/Lebron/CP3 are really the only ones im seeing right now and its mainly between durant and lebron.

You should of thrown it at Lebron and Durant and you would of won for sure.

Lebron should and probably will get it again, but there may be a case of media getting of voting for Lebron every year, just like the D-rose year.

The correct answer is Lebron

Unless something crazy happens like LeBron averaging a triple double or Miami winning 70 LeBron won't win it. The media's just gonna get tired of voting for him. Jordan should have 10 MVPs but people voted on good stories like Barkley, Malone and those last two by Magic. I think it's Durant's to lose.

Jordan should've won at least 8, so voters vote for subjective reasons.

OP is also getting odds to vote for CP3 and especially Rondo. James would've gave the least return on a bet. Me personally even if James deserved it, I don't think he'll win it this year due to the media voting. Outside of James it's probably Durant or Paul, maybe Howard if the Lakers recover fast enough and challenge for a top 2 seed out west.

I would have gone Lebron/Durant but if this was horse racing and you are taking a reach that has a shot these would be the smart choices.

Bynum
Melo
Harden

melo has no shot at all.

its between lebron/durant with CP3 and howard having outside shot.

"Saying" Rondo is at the same level, if not even conversation, as Chris Paul, is like "saying" that a dollar is "just like" an 100$ bill. It makes no sense.

I can't see Rondo winning at all.

IMO:

LeBron
Durant
Paul
Dwight
Harden :sigh:

Should be the top 5.

Rondo isn't even the best player on his own team, much less worthy of an MVP vote.

I thought CP3 should have won it last season with the turnaround the Clippers had with him.

I used Melo kinda similar to the Iverson thing...Maybe melo throws up 30 ppg and the knicks make the playoffs while Amare doesn't return and thus MVP. I am not saying he would deserve it or even have a top 5 year but with all of that I think they would throw his name in the hat

I'd say I've made a wise investment on these two looking at things so far.

Rondo averaging 16, 13, 4 and 2 while basically being the life line for any success the Celtics have.

CP3 averaging 18, 11 and 2 while the Clippers on his will are looking like they just might get the top seed in the West.

Rondo 16 ppg 57% shooting, 12.5 apg, 5 rpg, 2 spg
Chris Paul 17.5 ppg 47% shooting, 10.7 apg, 3.9 rpg, 2.2 spg

Chris Paul 17.5 ppg 47% shooting, 10.7 apg, 3.9 rpg, 2.2 spg

As if the stats will stay that way.......

Paul is a top 3 player in the NBA...of course he should be a candidate. If the Clippers clearly take a step forward this year and he has a top 3 season, he should and hopefully will get a lot of votes.

Rondo is going to have to play better than he ever has, and see the Celtics have a ton of regular season success. I can't see both happening.

I'm a big rondo fan. His numbers speak for themselves. He breaks John Stockton numbers and Stockton is a Hall of Famer. His character is questionable, but noone should doubt hit ability on the court. He puts up phenomenal numbers

Rondo has a ring, but CP3 is the more dominant player, plus he's got far better weapons on his Clipper team to help him look better. I love Rondo's game but CP3 can do what Rondo does PLUS he can shoot and score at will.

Take the star player off any team and their absence will be apparent. I think Durant should win because LeBron has D-Wade & Bosh. Who does Durant have? Aside from Westbrook? Take Durant off the team and OKC is screwed.

Il Mago50
11-20-2012, 02:08 AM
CP3 literally makes all of those Clipper players go, he is the general who tells people where to go, where the ball should go and when it's crunch time, the man takes over.

He only plays 32 minutes a game which obviously won't allow him to put up massive numbers like KD and Lebron but no one is more important to their team then CP3

11-20-2012, 06:52 AM
If the Lakers finish with 60 wins, Kobe will have a very good chance as he is still, despite some of you disagreeing (generally ones who don't watch the Lakers play), the best player on the Lakers

But, realistically i don't see LeBron not winning it. CP3 would be my 2nd choice though as Clippers are for real and he's the main reason.

I don't see why people are saying Durant, i honestly don't think they are as good with Kevin Martin now so OKC won't have a top 2 record, which is usually required in either conference.

LeBron
CP3
Kobe
Carmelo
Durant
Rondo

As of right now, Lebron is not the clear cut mvp of the league. Lbj, paul, kobe, durant are all early candidates.

But i've gotta say this; Cris Paul, whenever i watch him play, and i watch him a lot, amazes me on another level. LeBron, Kobe , Durant are all amazing scorers, but i'm shocked how C.Paul does what he does so effectively, efficiently and seems so effortless. His influence on his teammates and his ability to control the game is completely on another level. 16pts and 10 assists or 26 PER don't even come close to explain what this man do on the court. And it seems like he controls the ball less compared to other years while doing this.

My vote right now goes to C.Paul until somebody deserves to take it away from him.

CP3 will edge Rondo though as his team is most likely to have the better record

I don't want Lebron to win it. Would like someone else for a change plus he is on a very stacked team

Would like to see Durant, CP3 or even Kobe win it (for his age what he is doing is awesome)

Rondo > CP3. Rondo doesn't wet the bed like CP3 in 08 playoffs and '12 playoffs

An injured CP3 led a depleted Clippers team past a superior Memphis team without HCA. How is that wetting the bed?

Meanwhile the Celtics fall apart without KG but can win a playoff game without Rondo.

Where exactly is the proof that one wets the bed and the other doesnt?

Why is this?

Because its hilarious to him. When people laugh hysterically, it can hurt. Have you ever smiled ? Imagine smiling x 1000.

Thats what laughing looks like. Now imagine laughing x 100. Now your entering his level of laughter.

Rondo has some impressive games (when he is in attack mode) but other times I feel is very overrated. He's almost a negative when he's not attacking because of his poor shooting.

Chris Paul by a landslide. Much more impactful player especially on offense. Come back to me when Rondo is even a top 10 player in the nba or when Rondo leads an elite offense. Rondo led the 24th best offense last season or one of the worst offensive teams in the league. Padding empty assists doesn't make you a better PG especially when you are afraid to score/are an inept scorer.
