glad we retained him but thats alittle pricy on someone who's still very much an injury concern

i think its a great deal and only for 2 years.

he easily could have got 4 years out there. love it for the chisox.

That is a good deal for both sides. Probably could have signed him for somewhere around 3yr/$39M, but they were willing to pay a little extra for one less season. I like it.

He definately did not give them a discount. That is pretty pricy for a pitcher who has been injured quiet often

I think he would have got 3-4 yrs at 13MM+ so I think its a decent deal for just 2 years

I'm not so sure. He's thrown roughly 100 innings 3 of the last 4 seasons. I'm not sure how much faith I have in him staying healthy.

Great, one less pitcher for the Dodgers to sign.

2 year deal is a nice deal for the ChiSox imo. Yes the injury concerns are still high, but the last year and a half when healthy he has accumulated a 7.4 WAR, so the price is just about what he deserves.

i heard on the radio that it came with a player option for the third year at 15mm, real nice deal for Jake to get. Wished it was a mutual option at least.

Edit: the player option kicks in if he meets inning requirements for 2013 and 14

The big concern for him is staying healthy. If he does, the option kicks in. Makes sense to me.

Was hoping the Jays would sign him, not a bad deal high dollars but low term.

Wow. Really? Overpaid him. The guy had one good season in 3 years. The Sox are gonna be on that BS $100M payroll again. And already they've used up 15% of it one guy. Don't even know what to expect next season.

Fair price, IDK why people are thinking he would get more.. The dude, although solid, is always hurt and isn't the ace he used to be. ~15m is a huge chunk of their payroll.

I think they had to pay a little more for it to only be a 2 year deal which I think is the biggest value. He could have gotten 4 elsewhere.

I think it's a fair deal for both sides honestly.

Pretty damn good deal all around. You have to pay a bit more to get shorter term and that's exactly what they did here. I'd take him on the Jays with that contract in a heartbeat. The guy is a gamer.
