http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/dallas-mavericks/headlines/20121028-bad-influence-delonte-west-likely-to-be-cut-by-mavericks.ece

I know this guy has had his problems, and he gives up a lot of size as a SG, but he can play the point as well and he's a great defender. Is there a place for him on any contenders? My first thought is that he'd be a great fit in Miami, but obviously there are the rumours about the issues between he and James, but in all seriousness he's a solid 3pt shooter and plays great D. He'd fit in Miami perfectly.

As for LAL, he's be adding some defence at a position that doesn't have much for them if he plays point, but they'd likely have to move either Duhon or Blake, and I heard LAL is planning on bringing Fisher in as soon as he is eligilbe.

LAC might be a good landing spot. Or even OKC. Thibs is a great defensive coach, and Chi-town's starting PG is going to be down for while, and he's already played for Boston twice, maybe three times is a charm? Or maybe he could back up D-Will?

Is he going to land a job somewhere if he's cut? Or is he headed out of the league?

I expect the Lakers to take a serious look......should he clear the waiver wire.

If the lakers are smart they'd sign him to be Nash's backup!

Send Morris to the d-league and keep Duhon as insurance incase an injury happens

I think CJ Watson has good command of that backup position.

CJ Watson is a solid PG/SG and is better than West. Not to mention less of a headache.

why is he getting cut? He's probably the most consistent Maverick last season he always plays the same way and always brings it on both ends. He's so underrated on offense he's a straight baller. Quick, dribbles, shoots so well.

Not an amazing passer but he can score well and makes plays

West might be an idiot as someone else said, but he's still a solid role player. My Lakers better take a serious look at him because West is a thousand times better than Blake and Duhon.

Something better coming along? At this point hell no! Unless we trade one of our starting 5 which won't happen

immediately thought of them when I heard the news....Lakers desperately need some sort of quickness in the backcourt and something that actually resembles a bench..........

My friend as a fellow laker fan you know mitch makes magic happen. Plus its not like we have smush Parker backing up Nash. I can see Delonte and Kobe clashing day one.

delonte west is a lot better then cj watson when on the court. Delonte actually plays some very good defense.

Doc Rivers has actually done a very good job with him and recently has talked about delonte. I would imagine if the celtics didnt just sign leandro barbosa they would give delonte a look.

I'd love him to sign for us. Better than Blake/Duhon, G-Lock, DJO as backups and although undersized, would be better than Meeks for us aswell.

both strengths are defense.
with west being the better scorer imo,
however off the field issues/locker room issues is what really sets them apart, hence why cj watson is the better choice.

I agree. He is a heck of a player who should have found a home as a starting NBA player somewhere. he always busts his *** on the court too. Its a shame he just can't keep himself in check enough to make it happen

The way to go is cut Darius Johnson-Odom (he's still young and maybe we can cut him and keep his rights and send him to the D-League, if possible).

Sign Delonte and Sacre. Mid-season at the trade deadline, we can get rid of either Blake or Duhon (most likely Duhon since his salary next yr is partially guaranteed).

Darrius Morris isn't going to get much time either way, he's for the future.

I think at the trade deadline, the Lakers can get rid of Duhon as his salary for 2013-2014 is partially guaranteed, so he'd be a valuable contract for a team looking for expirings.

So essentially, the backup PG position would be a battle between Blake and Delonte.

West isn't a rookie in need of maturity and learning. He's talented, but he has a serious medical condition; no amount of Kobe/Mike Brown/Gasol/experienced vets is going to fix that. And nobody can force him to take medication, either.
He's pretty much the reason why he's getting cut from teams-he's struggling to keep his problems in check which is a shame because he is talented.
