View Full Version : Why have the Rockets drafted SIX power forwards in the first round last 3 drafts

2010: Patrick Patterson
2011: Marcus Morris, JaJuan Johnson (traded for) and Donatas Montiejunas
2012: Royce White and Terrence Jones

The Harden acquisition was great, but wow people got on the T-Wolves for the point guard thing, this team is so much worse

The T-Wolves drafted 4 point guards in one year. That's way different than 6 PF in three years.

I think it's smart... it's so hard to tell which PF and C will translate well to the NBA from college... so if they grab all the top talent in the drafts, they are bound to find the net Charles Barkley or Karl Malone eventually, no? lol

The league in general is moving to positionless basketball... a lot of teams have been playing with two power forwards on the floor and doing well with it (Miami just won a title playing htat way). If they get a couple of PFs that look good and need to move one, it's always easy to find a trade partner if you are giving up a big guy for a small guy. And finding a great PF is hard, but at the same time is easy to build around.

As for Minny, I still don't know why they drafted 4 PGs in one draft? I didn't rrealize they had. I know Flynn and Rubio were drafted at the same time (I think).

Wow where do you people get your info? 4 pgs for Minny? I guess Wayne Ellington is a pg now. Really the Wolves only drafted 2 pg's and pick who Denver told them to pick. People still don't know this?

This. Denver told them to draft Ty Lawson.

And Rockets could package those players and make another trade.

If David Kahn would have done it, it would have been a big deal.

Because they are good drafters and can snag multiple first round picks from teams without losing anything talent wise.

Patrick Patterson is a damn good player.. Very solid PF
Nets drafted Jajuan Johnson, He never even played a minute for Houston
Minnesota drafted Donatas Montiejunas
Royce White & Terrence Jones aren't PF's... & plus 2012 was a pretty forward-heavy draft

I got on the Timberwolves because they passed on Stephen Curry & DeMar DeRozan lol... But just like me, everyone thinks they are much more smarter than the scouts, coaches, & gm's. I can't explain how many people on the Knicks forum were mad because they drafted Iman Shumpert instead of Tyler Honeycutt or Chris Singleton but look at em now lol

Value picks over position picks anytime. When you're drafting at #5-10, get the best player, not the best player on the position you need.
