I am a Yankees fan living in Chicago. I have been a Yankees fan since I was a child, and I have been a fan ever since.

Yesterday, the Yankees were swept by the Tigers in just an embarrassment of a series. The Tigers are now in the World Series and the Yanks are done.

I have been receiving alot of trash talk from Tigers fans, but oddly more from White Sox fans. The White Sox fans I know have been rooting for the Tigers the whole series. How can you do this? How can you root for an Arch Division Rival? In 2004, I in no way wanted the Red Sox to win the World Series.

Help me out White Sox Fans...are you happy to see the Tigers in the World Series?

Idiots will trash talk when they see someone's team falter no matter what. I never understood how fans team that didn't get as far can talk **** to another fan who's team went far. Doesn't make sense. But then there's stupid people so it does.

Good question. I guess the hatred of the Yankees goes deeper than the rivalry.
The Red Sox/Yankees hatred is a very deep one and I don't expect many fans of either team to cheer for the other when their team is out.

I wanted the Yanks to win badly... so no... this isn't represented of all white sox fans...

A lot of White Sox fans will take the Yanks over the Tigers but it goes to show how much Yankee hate there is...

Once Baltimore and Washington lost I gave up interest anyway.

I'm a White Sox fan, and I think most Sox fans wanted the Tigers to lose.

In my opinion, the Tigers are just a team that baseball forces the White Sox to play 18 times a year in an arbitrary 5-team grouping. Once they're done playing the games, I don't care who wins in the playoffs. I just want to be entertained.

But in this year, with the four teams left, the Tigers haven't won in a long time. The other 3 have won the last three years. So I hope the Tigers win, and Ilitch can die a happy man. He doesn't look like he'll be around much longer.

Ima redsox fan and this season was brutal. But then the yankees got swept. So it made this baseball season not so bad! I was so happy the yankees got swept. And yes i was one talking mad crap 2 my friends who are yankee fans cause i hate the yankees. I know my team sucked this year but hey the yankees got swept! So i was happy! Probably the happiest ive been all baseball season since i went to fenway this summer for $4.00 and they actually won! Both moments are neck and neck for the best baseball moment of 2012 for me

Well, if it isn't just straight Yankee hate, it could be a case of "well, Detroit beat us, so we may as well hope they win so we at least lost out to the best".

But it's probably mostly just Yankee hate.

Yeah, because Giants fans haven't been taking stabs at the Dodgers and mocking them since late August....

Anyways, I don't get why people hate the Yankees so much. I can understand AL East teams hating them, but other than that who cares? They've beaten the Dodgers 9/11 WS and I don't hate them. Wish we had more than 6 championships, and the Yankees have a lot to do with that, but the Yankees still don't draw any hatred from me.

What does that have to do with anything? I wasn't even referring to Dodgers fans. I was talking in general. Like for example, Raiders fans talking **** to 49ers fans because they lost. It's like really, they're going to talk **** when their team is one of the worst in the NFL while 49ers are one of the best? Doesn't make sense.

FYI, I hate how some of the posters trolled in your forum and even voiced my displeasure about it in your forum.

White Sox fans are cool as **** in my book. Every single one of them on here. Especially JD and DaBears1990.

We have a good little rival going on here with them.

Most MLB fans trash the AL Central on here. Could be a reason some are having fun with the Yankees right now.

A few more pieces and the White Sox are a damn good team.

I don't think they fell apart this year either, they battle injuries that cost them and they did as much as they could with the hand they were dealt.

How can you root for the Yankees while growing up in Chicago? See, just as irrelevant a question.

The first Game I ever went to, Jeter hit a homer. I remember idolizing him as a kid. It started off just me being a Jeter fan and then grew to being a Yankees fan.

As for the Sox fans, The Tigers and Sox had such a big rivalry this year. I dont get how "Yankee Hate" could be put above that. And as far as the "well, at least the team we lost to won it all" argument, that is a cop out.

If you are a true fan and truly love the game of baseball, you should never cheer for your rival to win it all, plain and simple. But hey I guess it isnt much of a rivalry if no one shows up to see it.

I would agree with this in the opposite way. This was a fun race. Even though it seemed neither team wanted to win it. We have fun on here. I respect the hell out of Verlander and Miggy is one of the best hitters in baseball. I won't be upset if they win. I am glad the Yanks lost. But in the end my 2nd team has always been the Cards. I would like to see them win it.

That is ********, the Sox and Tigers isn't a rivalry built on hate and bad will towards each other. Any fan can do what they want when it comes to who they root for. So don't tell me I am not a real fan or are other people who root for a division foe to win it. That is your OPINION, but in my OPINION, yours is stupid.

My guess would be that baseball fans are always pissing and moaning about how bad the AL Central is so it may be a case of "representing the central". Add that to the general disdain many fans have for the Yanks.

Also, it isn't like the Tigers/White Sox are like Yankees?Red Sox. If there is a rivalry, it is a pretty basic rivalry that exists between every other team in the same division as others.

If it were the White Sox vs Yanks, I would have rooted for the Sox.

This is quite possibly the most idiotic post I've seen in years. You have an opinion, here is mine. People who make blanket statements about another team's fanbase in which they categorize all fans a certain way are either of the following, maybe all.

1. Trolling.
2. Maybe they are only 12 and have only met 12 year old White Sox fans.
3. Really shouldn't categorize a fanbase because they really are clueless.
4. If there are one or two White Sox fans acting like this should probably just ignore them (that would be a mature thing to do) instead of starting a thread and post several times in it that in general White Sox fans care more about the yankees losing than the White Sox winning.

As a season ticket holder for over 10 years, telling my wife I loved her for the first time when the White Sox won the WS, naming my dog Buerhle, spending countless hours of my life watching the White Sox play, taking my son to a White Sox game for the first time (of many) it is absolutely insulting to hear an immature comment like this. 2) They are mid 50's and live in chicago...season ticket holders
