View Full Version : New web design for NBA.com

Didn't know where to post this, but...

http://www.nba.com

Has anyone seen the new layout?

I think it's a huge downgrade. The changes make every page incredibly long, and the old design was more compact and didn't depend on mass scrolling because several features were horizontally laid out at the center of the page. Why do standings need to be on the front page? That's what sub menus are for.

Don't really visit NBA.com so it really doesn't hamper me that much. I don't mind the new look though.

I like reading all of the articles, checking standings and watching the analysis videos. It was so neat and functional before. It could look worse, but I wonder why the change was made.

Actually... for the past week every time I go to NBA.com I get a add for two games (NY/TO and DET/MIN), and there is a link that says "Back to NBA.com" but when I click on it, it just returns me to the page I landed on.... I think something's fawked up with their website.... I haven't been able to access it for a week now.

Looks like a 6th grader who just discovered basic programming made the page.

Style-wise it's fine. Not a big deal at all. I just wish they would switch it so that videos don't auto-play every time you click on a game.

There are many things I'd like them to change so I really don't go there very often as a result.

Yeah it's driving me bananas but if you keep clicking it, it will eventually go back.

It is made for the tablets and the cell phones. Big pictures and words, easy to click videos. It looks horrible but they are not designing for it for us actual World Wide Web users anymore. Its made for applications and cell phone bullsh**. Welcome to our dumbed down world of simplicity.

Wouldn't they then have a tablet version, a mobile version and a desktop version? I think we're seeing many websites following that new trend in terms of their interface.

It's sad because NBA.com was considered the best site out of all the major sports leagues. Now, it just looks like a simple version of what used to be a fairly decent site.
But, like most others on here, I never went on it as my main source for NBA info anyways so I won't miss the old one much.

If you have firefox or google chrome, download an add on called flash blocker. It's fantastic. It stops all flash videos from playing. If you want one to play, you just click the video box.

Seems like they tried to simplify the layout, but only made it less accessible in doing so.
