The Golden State Warriors today revealed designs for a new arena on San Francisco's Piers 30, 32. The team hopes to build the project in time for the 2017 season.

The drawings show the 170,000 square foot arena pushed back from the Embarcadero to preserve views of the Bay Bridge and the Bay. A large raised terrace with steps will cover a 630-space parking garage.

The team said more than half of the 13-acre site will be set-aside as open space, with a plaza opening up to the Bay. The arena itself will have an exterior ramp that will allow visitors to also take in bay views.

"I think a lot of people who have been concerned we were going to build Disneyland on piers 30, 32 will be quite surprised," said Warriors President Rick Welts.

The team is hoping to ease concerns of neighborhood groups who are concerned about the project. Neighbors said they are concerned about traffic congestion in the area since the San Francisco Giants play just up the street.

"So the neighborhood sees not just 81 dates a year from Giants games," said Michael Anthony of the South Beach - Rincon-Mission Neighborhood Association. "If the arena comes in that’s going to be pretty much year round."

The team said it's unveiling its preliminary drawings in an effort to ease some of the neighborhood fears. The Warriors will present the designs to the public during a community meeting set for Tuesday evening at Delancey Street.

I just hope that I'm not in the City when something is going on at all of its downtown venues all at once. It gets extremely congested on the streets/freeways and public transportation just during a Giants' game.

I love that I can now take my kayak or canoe to the game. I just hope parking those ****ers won't cost me $35+. Such a rip off...

I like the views, layout, etc... I just don't like that the arena looks like a silver turd from above.
