move ARod to short, Chavez starts at 3rd, maybe it will spark something in Alex's bat, always thought the move to 3rd upset ARod on some level and affected his game...Yanks aren't down and out, but this blow hurts no doubt, as much as I hate the Yankees, Jeter's one of my favorite players and would love to see him one day break the all time hits record, this surely doesnt help that :(

Yankees may have a fire under their azz now to win this for the captain. Swisher should not be in the lineup. Period. He is beyond awful in the post-season and I can not wait until this season is over. He will NEVER wear pinstripes again.

Nunez/Nix will be the new shortstops. I think Nix over Nunez.

Series is far from over. I hope Yanks win it for their captain.

Phelps fault easily. If he comes back from this injury he won't be the same Jeter ever again. If he was younger he could heal through it but since he is up there in age his career could be shortened now. Writing this makes me wanna throw up

Happens man ... I'm from st Louis and cards fan not a huge Yankees fan but I respect the hell out of jeter that play he made the other night may have won them the ALDS you never know what could of happened if he didn't silky smoothly gun the runner out on first on the slow roller

I have respect for Jeter.

Looked painful on the replay, though hard to tell what happened at first.

Damn talk about a changing-of-the-guard being in order with both him and Mo - 2 lynchpins who are absolute models of durability - both shelved before the WS.

Sucks for Jeter but I'll be happy when the Yankees get put out by the Tigers. Haters gonna hate.

The guy has been blessed to be on the DL twice in his career prior to this injury.

Sometimes **** happens and in this case it happened to a 38 year old SS who doesn't miss postseason games.

It's a big loss for the Yankees psychologically too but they'll have to get over it if they want to win this series.

Will be interested in seeing how he recovers from this. Last couple ankle fractures I can remember had trouble with mobility and even hitting (although its his landing and not driving leg) Ordonez, S. Drew, Sizemore all seemed hobbled even after they were cleared to play.

This sucks for Jeter and the Yanks.

Now that we know that ARod is not moving over to short, who is?

Nix and Nunez, they will be fine offensively to replace jeter. Nix is better defensively too. People need to step up though, cano, swisher, granderson, and arod aren't hitting. These guys need to start hitting soon cause today is a must win for them.

I'll admit, I hate the Yankees with a passion but I feel for Derek Jeter right now. I really hope he can recover and come back from this. It would be a shame to see his career end like this.

I am a big Red Sox fan but was saddened to see Jeter break his ankle. Probably the classiest guy in baseball. Hurts the game to lose such great players and people.

that's the thing, depending on how severe this is, it could be career ending, kendry's morales had a comparable injury and took a year and a half to come back, and even then the injury cut into his production and ability for the first half of this year, Jeter is 38 if it's as sever as kendry's who played 1st base not SS jeter might not come back until he is 40-41, and even if this doesn't end his career, he is done playing SS, he has been terrible defensively for years, i think this is what it will finally take to move him off that position. But who knows, maybe it's not as bad and he will be fine and ready to go in spring training.

absolutely, even though they have CC going game 3 he will be facing Verlander, and they wont be able to recover from and 0-3 hole.

That sucks. If I were a fan of Detroit, I'd be happy and upset at the same time. Happy that they don't have to deal with a great player playing against them, but upset because if they do win, so many people will say "Well, they definitly wouldn't have won if Jeter didn't get hurt."

10-14-2012, 02:50 PM
Losing Jeter isn't the reason the Yanks will lose the Series... It's because Kuroda goes on short rest, followed by facing Verlander.

It's a myth that Jeter is clutch in the post season with the bat. He used to step up his defense in the post season, but as he's declined these past few years that aspect seems to be fading.

The difference between Nunez and Jeter is so miniscule that it will barely have an effect over a 5 game span.

As bad as Jeter's range is, Nunez is an error machine so i think it's almost a push there either way.

But it doesn't change how big a loss psychologically it is for them.

They are going to miss him the rest of the series tremendously regardless.

^He was being sarcastic

I thought he was only talking about defensively. (i read it incorrectly and obviously there is no comparing offense production between Jeter, Nix, and Nunez)

I can see the semi comparisons with them defensively, that's where i meant to stop my point at.

The rest of it was just a general statement about the loss of Jeter altogether.

Um what? Kuroda pitched great, Jeter was swing a great bat. Jeter isn't the reason were down but what are you even saying? Your post made no sense.
