Eddy Curry may be finally back to his old self or even better. In 20 mins of action his offensive skills are excellent plus he's already grabbed 7 rebounds.

Do you think the Spurs will make Eddy Curry a good player again?

He had it in him before, I believe in him if he's committed.

Watching this game. Curry looks like he has NBA shape. Although he's been going up against a 6-8 guy. More although, Josh Powell is beasting. Dude hit a 30 footer and everything, looking like KD out there.

So in other words, don't trust preseason games too much. Curry has a chance though with that organization.

IF Curry does average 11-8 with solid Defense. which i dont think he will then the Spurs become favorites to win the west.

It seems like every time a player plays w/ San Antonio they always play at there potential, but when they play for another team its like they underachieve

It's preseason... I mean, I'm a big Spurs fan, so I'm hoping Curry suddenly becomes a 25/15 player... but honestly? I don't expect him to even be in the rotation by the end of the season.

He is already at least 50 pounds lighter than when he averaged 19-7 in his best season. His knee/leg injuries that started a few years back were a bigger issue for him than his weight. Ive seen him with a few put back dunks in the last week so hopefully his knee is getting better.

dude.

he had a FULL season in miami to get in shape, where miami has one of the toughest fitness maintenance programs and requirements in the league.

ask shaq, who routinely got into shouting arguments with riley over this.

eddy curry can thank miami for some of his weight loss, but dude is motivated, he just didnt fit in the heat system where the center had to be quick, he was slow in the pick and roll defense, always got exposed, otherwise i am sure we would have used him more.

He did lose quite a bit of weight in Miami. He has since lost another 15-20 pounds. His lateral movement is a problem. You are right about that. Even before injury he would sometimes gets lackadaisical on defense and his side to side movement really went down with all the knee/leg injuries. Before the injuries he was already a poor help defender but a pretty effective 1 on 1 post defender. If his knee and leg are getting healthier maybe he can play a solid role for the Spurs. It takes a while for big men to come back from multiple knee/leg injuries. Sadly it was like a bad circle where the more he was injured the more he put on weight in the past. I watched Eddy speak last night after the game. He seemed to really be having fun.

absolutely. and what i do admire, is his motivation.
before he joined the heat he lost 50 pounds!!!

we all were in awe lol, because he came off as lazy, whatever the reason may be for the weight gain, he showed a lot of motivation, discipline, to lose all that weight. i really wish him the best.

He looks pretty good (http://oncourtonslaught.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Eddy-Curry-Spurs-e1349160190661.jpg)

He went against Horford last night and had some nice moments. I do not think Eddy will be an all star but he could be a nice asset if his knees are healthy and he works hard.

The only thing that really hurt the spurs last year was the lack of a dominant offensive big next to Duncan and a peak Eddy Curry is just that. Im not saying Curry is going to Peak here but if he does i like the Spurs chances at one last title run

make all the jokes you want...but the guy has been working his behind off for a year and a half to get himself back into shape...good for him for working hard and making it back.

Hopefully he has matured now and will be able to keep the weight off.

He's still a little slow on his rotations defensively and has to be in better position to rebound the ball. Offensively, I like his post game he's able to use his size and has a nice little quick baseline spin move that'll catch people off guard.

Point is, he has a lot of upside, seems motivated and if he makes the team he's got the great Tim Duncan to mentor him and the best coach in the game to put him in a position to succeed.

if you sit on your but since 2008, playing really bad and being injured and out of shape, while earning millions of dollars, it takes more than 1 and a half years of hard work to gain your respect back

LOL... I think those diners are doing just fine business wise since Blair came, then Diaw, now Curry.

But in all seriousness, all 3 of those guys have lost a lot of weight and each of them appear to be in a lot better shape than before.

i thought it was a big headscratcher when Spurs took a flyer on eddy, they are not known for reclamation projects, other than maybe stephen jackson but he is more of a headcase.... eddy is chronically lazy.
