ďNo one at ESPN will tell us what happened. Certainly the NBA office isnít going to tell us what happened. One of the quotes from ESPN in there Ė we had discussions, but couldnít agree on a role Ö as is usual, thatís a bunch of BS from ESPN.

We actually did agree on a role, but then they came back and pulled that. Thatís when we knew something was up.

Nobody is going to give a straight answer because Ö thatís just the way a lot of people operate Ö nobody there has the guts to say anything, so thatís what you deal with.

What I find fascinating Ö you have to give David Stern and the NBA a lot of credit Ö ESPN pays the league, and then the league tells them what to do. Itís more ESPNís problem. You gotta have no balls whatsoever to pay someone hundreds of millions of dollars and let them run your business.

Just say what happened. Who cares? Who cares if Iím on there or not. Just come out and say this is what we decided and why Ö [ESPN's quote] thatís just a flat out lie. Why would you do that? I donít understand. We agreed on something, you changed your mind and pulled the offer. Donít say we couldnít come to an agreement. We did.Ē

I agree with everything SVG said here. I think it's a joke honestly, but what can you do.

what happened?

ESPN and Stan supposedly had an agreement, hand shake/verbal, to include Stan to the NBA Countdown show. However, since NBA is a major partner for ESPN, paying almost a billion dollars to get the coverage of the games, all decisions regarding about ESPN and NBA have to go through somehow with the NBA. ESPN came out somehow that they never reached an agreement with Stan, assuming that Stern had a say to it since Stan is very vocal and Stern and Stan do not get along because of that.

Stan is angry with ESPN for how they twisted the story to cover up the assumed involvement of Stern. Stan probably knows that Stern does not like him. He doesn't mind that. However, what he is angry about is how ESPN pays the NBA that much money to only be controlled by the NBA itself. Stan just wants ESPN to come clean and say it that Stern was involved and that is the case and that is all that. With how it went down, he is probably pissed because this would reiterate that ESPN is being hostage by Stern, thus making journalist read a script rather than actual journalism.
