Man, I hope your right. Would absolutely love adding Marcum. I'm not sure I see Blanton as much of a possibility though. We added Saunders, we have Tillman, Chen, Hammel, Gonzalez as pretty much locks imo, just don't see us adding a pretty mediocre starter. Farnsworth and Broxtn would both be another solid adds too.

Again, hope your right. I do expect us to be more involved in the FA and/or trade market though with us having more people in the seats and more competitive.

Even at that the Braves are, what, a 90MM type payroll team, right?

I suppose Atlanta is as good a guess as any for Hamilton. I don't see Texas bringing him back. They've got so much young talent they'll need to lock up in the coming years that makes keeping Hamilton prohibitive.

Boston signing Swisher for that much would make the season worse. I like the guy and he's a hard working player, but that's way too much money for him! Sheesh. Still though, with the market and inflation your estimate might be correct.

I'd rather take a chance on Delmon Young at a really low cost.

I wouldn't mind Izturis or Balfour but I don't see the need for Saunders and Dempster on the Tigers. Verlander, Scherzer, Fister are the top three and unless they trade Porcello he'll be #4 with Smyly and Crosby fighting for the #5 spot.

17. Shane Victorino - Washington Nationals (5 years, $57.5 M)

32 year old, declining Shane Victorino and his .700 OPS is getting a 5 year deal worth $57.5 mil? And hes going to the Nationals who already have Werth, Harper, Morse, Moore and Bernadina? Victorino would be lucky to get a 3 year deal. I would say he gets something like 2 years/$13 mil and hes definitely not going to the Nationals.

Adam LaRoche to the Brewers?!?!? On what planet does that make sense? Does the blogger know anything about baseball or did he just randomly assign teams to players? I also don't see Dice-K going to the dodgers especially after the big contracts they just took on from the Red Sox. If that is the case that the dodgers want Dice-K then that means that somehow he didn't clear waivers which I find hard to believe.

5 years is stupid, but Victorino is going to be a surprisingly nice pickup for someone next year. One of those good players who gets his reputation hurt by aging in the 21st century and playing for a playoff caliber team that busted.

He's basically this offseason's David DeJesus (a starting caliber veteran OF coming off a bad year), except he's been tested on rosters that did more than compete for last place and is a more dynamic offensive weapon.

But why the F would he sign in San Francisco?

Don't really care about the guesses. That said, the question of moving Posey to preserve his knees, career, and obviously bat wont' go away as he gets older.

Martin is probably a little too good to serve as a team's second catcher, but improving depth and talent at a position like that is hardly a dumb idea. I'm sure he'd welcome the chance to play on a legitimate playoff contender that happens to be in the same division of the team that dumped him for nothing if he can make a nice living doing it.

Personally, I hope the Cubs chase him considering our 2013 starter right now is some guy named Wellington Castillo (who doesn't suck or anything, he's just not the kind of prospect you just hand a starting job to without competition).

The Mets already have Francisco as their closer and already are set with their starters. Plus the owners are broke.

What they do need is a catcher and all three outfield positions.

But it's kind of moot point, because as I stated above, the owners are broke.

How so? His FIP and xFIP are both lower than his ERA...

His k/9 is almost at 8 - which is definitely better than his career average

Which part "under sabermetrics" is he actually not very good?

That has nothing to do with it.... people hate the list because it's embarrassingly terrible.

I mean, maybe I should make a list too - here's my top 10:
10. Hiroki Kuroda - Astros
9. David Ortiz - KC Royals

6. Nick Swisher - Cubs
5. Michael Bourn - Oakland

Wishful thinking if the Mets can acquire OF Michael Bourn. Alderson won't overpay for him. I can see us giving him, at most, 4yr 40mill.

A lot of speculation about the mets bringin in Russel Martin. Personally, I rather have shoppach and thole platoon at catcher.

I hope we resign Dickey; 3yr 36mill & D.Wright 7yr 125mill.

Hamilton to the Braves seems very likely. With Chipper, Hudson, & Bourn off the books. Not sure he'll sign a 5yr 120mill deal. 24mill seems sexy but for some reason alot of people are saying teams will bid as high as 8yr 200mill for him.

BJ Upton will be a washington national after this offseason!!! Book it!!!!!!!

I would also like the Red Sox to take a look at Adam Laroche at 1b. I think he would do wonders on the short right field porch.

Also, if Loshe doesn't return to the Cards, I can see Oswalt/Peavy goin to St. Louis.

Phils have Ruben Amaro as their GM and somehow you predict he only spends $7 million in FA on a SP which we have in spades... Either you don't know how Ruben works or this list is complete crap haha

I fully expect them to sign at least one starter, but to suggest the Phillies only go out and get 1/75 top free agents is absolutely laughable.

I would not be even a little surprised to see both of those guys put up star quality seasons next year.

The Orioles are going to spend all of their money of two starters and two relievers when they already have like 50 of them?

Considering how their entire rotation and bullpen was created through cheap and under the radar moves, and they've been burned in the past through signing bullpen guys (Mike Gonzalez, Kevin Gregg), I don't see the point of signing guys like Broxton or Blanton.

I can safely say the Jays will not re-sign Kelly Johnson.

Grant balfour isnt a free gent he has a team option that is most certainly getting picked up and the athletics dont have a need for delmon young and arent going to sign him as it stands they have four out fielders that are starter caliber and they are trying to resign gomes

If I was the Cardinals I'd want no part of Lohse. Talk about an inflated contract year performance.

I would much rather see the Cardinals go in the direction of:
Wainwright
Carpenter
Rosenthal
Miller
Kelly

Thatll give a year or so left with Carpenter before we replace him with Carpenter. This is a young rotation and will allow us to sign an impact bat. This series, and this series alone, we missed Pujols. We really missed a traditional number 3 hitter, and Holiday right now is more of a 4/5/6 guy who is struggling

Russel Martin to the Giants seems like a weird pick up for me unless they trade Hector Sanchez.

The Dodgers are not going to sign Fernando Rodney; they are going to sign Brandon League instead.

Totally ridiculous list and baseless ASSumptions.

The dodgers, who are arguably the wealthiest team in MLB, are apparently not going after top tier pitching? WRONG !!!!
Their goal is to fill the stadium, bring life back into the franchise and reestablish a relationship with the fans...they need to put a winner on the field.

They will be contenders in the Grienke, Haren sweepstakes and WILL sign one if them.

At the prices listed they may sign both.

Mike Aviles is already on Blue Jays and David Ortiz looks like will resign with Red Sox's.

I just posted it, I didn't write it. I found the blog through DC Sports listing of mock drafts.

Going to be very interesting to see where Hamilton ends up. Maybe with the Dodgers as they're going to probably be making a splash in free agency this winter.
