I don't think Dwill will average a lot of assist because Joe Johnson is an excellent play maker as well.

Nash will average a minimum of 10 assists per game and I expect at least one 20+ assist game from him.

I don't know if that's really going to happen. I would agree with you if Kobe wasn't in the equation but that ball time is going to be split between Nash and Kobe in an amount that I don't think will allow him to get that many.

However, Nash is a magician so it might not be impossible.

Lol just like every other non laker fan this is false, what I saw today was what I expected I saw Nash having the ball and Kobe just spotting up for his shots, Kobe only had the ball when Nash went to the bench just like is will and should be

If Nash ever gets a 20+ assist game, you can count on Kobe's spot up 3s/mid-range jumpers to be a part of it.

Nash shouldnt average as more as he did last year.

His efficiency should go up (im not sure if thats entirely possible). With legitimate all stars & MVP candidates to pass to this year he should play less minutes but his assists will probably be similar to last year.

Then again, I could see him averaging 6 assists in the first quarter and 7 in the third quarter then sitting the second and fourth with the lakers winning by an average of 8 pts. But Im a lakers fan and I confess my bias.

Nash, with the talent around him has a chance as well. Just lob that ball to Dwight..

not enough minutes or a fast enough pace imo. Stockton also didn't have Kobe, who is an isolation player, pulling assist attempts away.

yeah. I see the Lakers just killing a lot of less talented teams, meaning Nash won't get the 37 mpg this season it would require him to get around 13 apg or something like that. But his assist rate should be stupid good.

In assists PER GAME? No, he won't even contend in the slightest. He won't play enough to even be a blip. Besides, Woodson runs isolation ball, and with Melo there, the ball stops and assist opportunities die.

I apologize if you took it that way, I am simply trying to tell you why he is a bad prediction for top 5. He simply doesn't get the minutes, and his offense won't be built for the PG to get a lot of assists, unless the old PnR Amare comes back to life. Even then, Felton will get the lions share of minutes man.

I wasn't PMS'ing haha, but I like that haha

It's definitely between Nash and Rondo.

Rondo is still on a 10+ assist streak and as long as he gets to play 30 mpg I think he'll keep going.

I don't know about Nash until I've seen the Lakers, but I think Nash will easily get atleast 5 a night from Pick and roll with Dwight and Gasol. So I can see him put up anything from 10-14 depending on how much Kobe has the ball.

Obvious picks seem to be Nash & Rondo, who i agree will push if not exceed 10 per game. My pick though goes to Deron Williams. He now has a good cast with him (scoring at least) and people always seem to forget how good he really is.

I'm sorry but I think Nash is going to take a hit in the assist category. It's tough to grab 10+ assists a game with a true ball stopper on your team.

Kobe in his entire career has only had a teamate average more than 7 assists per game once. That was in 1997 when Kobe only played 26mins a game. Van Exel saw his assist average dip a full 1.5 per game when Kobe minute per game jumped to 38.

Even the great Gary Payton could only muster 5.5.

Nash will however see in increase in overall efficiency numbers and a significant spike in
3pt%.

tcav701
10-08-2012, 09:34 AM
Yeah MJ has had a teamte average more than 6 APG once, Lebron never.

Even Carmelo, who has played in must more uptempo offenses has had a teamate average 8APG only once.

Ball stopping wings do not equal high PG assist totals. They do equal wins though which I guess is all that matters.

1. Rondo. The best pure PG in the league just got more weapons on offense and the keys to the team.
2. Nash. Shares the backcourt with Kobe, Princeton Offense, less PIck and roll, won't play as much minutes, nor have the ball in his hands as much
3. CP3
4. Williams
5. Rubio (could go as a high as 3)
Sleeper - Irving, no one to really pass the ball to, let's see if he can get over 9 per.

I dont think Nash is going to get as much assists as ppl think. The system isnt tailored towards high assist numbers like Phoenix system...plus you have ball dominant Kobe Bryant on his team. I actually have Nash averaging less than 10 apg, I say around 8-9. Anyone wanna bet with me?

Last year suns 2nd player in assists was Telfair. He averaged 2. Now, this year Kobe will still get his 4-5, Pau will get his 3-4, Blake will get his 3 etc. Nash will probably play 28-32 mpg and if he gets 12 then wow.. Lakers will average 30 apg?
