This.

I'd have him right after Wade and Kobe (or Kobe and Wade, whichever).

Manu and Harden and Joe Johnson are all great, but Manu at this point in his career, is obviously starting to take a step back, though his defence is as good as is has been, as is his jumper, but he's playing teamball in SA, so his averages are never going to be where Roy's were. JJ, I wouldn't argue with somebody who put JJ ahead of Roy because statistically they are very similar players. Harden may take a step forward in his game this year and put himself on the same kind of level as Roy, but it's going to be hard for him to post the same kind of averages as Roy for the same reason that Manu can't, because he is on a team where you got two other guys who are going to be getting a lot of shots (Westbrook and Durant). Monta? I need to see him put up numbers on a playoff team. He can score and pass, and rebounds well for his size, but seeing Roy hit game winning shots... that goes a long way with me.

Yup. When healthy, he was unquestionably a top 3 SG in this league.

Probably #2 after Wade (if healthy) or #3 after Kobe depending on how well he plays next year in that new system.

i wouldn't call you crazy.

but I'd buy it more if the question was "if roy never got injured and had good knees, where would be rank today in 2012-2013?"

because that implies that he's gotten better and more refined with his craft, and that he'd actually be better than he was in 2009, assuming he didn't peak out at 24 years old.

i'm not totally sold that roys 2009 season would still be better than what Wade or Kobe will do in 2013, but father time for sure gives roy the possible edge, depending on how Wade (31) and Kobe (34) look this year.

It's crazy how he's only 28 and has only played 5 seasons in the league. It's a damn shame what happened to him and his knees. That being said I probably have 09 Roy 3rd today behind Wade and Kobe.

well, Kobe and Wade are not the Kobe/Wade of 2009. I honestly think 2009 Roy is as good as either of them now, no problem. But, it's not 2009 Roy, is it? Hell, I would be happy if he can play like a top 12-14 SG this season. That is 18 spots higher than our SG play last season...

Any updates on how he is looking in camp?

Any updates on how he is looking in camp?

He is supposedly looking fine, scoring the ball well, handling the ball well, etc. He doesn't have as much lift apparently, but Roy was never a breath taking athlete anyways, he also relied on change of pace, and keeping his defender off balance. I am interested to see what that much time off did to the flow of his game though.

In all honesty, I am expecting 60-65 games, and around a 12/5 player with slightly above average efficiency, maybe 25-28 mpg. But I think he can help teach Love and Williams for instance, and even help Budinger grow a bit. At the very least, the locker room was helped big time with his, and Kirilenko's addition.

Williams is apparently the surprise of the camp. Adelman and the players raved about how aggressive he was right out of the gate. After watching summer league, I find that hard to believe however haha.

I keep forgetting about Williams. I think Roy will be solid. He was decent in his last season and I think he will be a bit better thatn that. 12/5 like you said, but a fair share of 20 point games.

Roy is well was a very good athlete with a 40 inch vertical. He just never used it in his game a lot because he is so skilled. http://youtu.be/_uAbdiCOJZM

I would expect the Wolves sit him on some back to back's, or set a minute limit at least. The doctors have put zero limitations on him, but cmon, the man has no cartilage in his knees, he can't be pushed that hard, like a normal player.

could you imagine if for some magical reason he has a complete resurgence. Rubio-Roy-Love. You guys would fight for homecourt out west.

i think you'll fight for a playoff spot regardless.

well, I am trying to be conservative, but its tough. I still think at worst this team wins 41-43, and if everything goes right, 52-55.

I'd love for that to be the case but considering what I've read/heard about his condition that seems unlikely.

I always like Roy.

Furthermore, under no possible circumstance does Adelman play Roy 35 minutes a night, no matter how great he claims to feel. He may have 10 games over the course of the season where he sees those minutes, but he will also have 10 games where he probably doesn't get more than 15. It will balance out. And Rubio will have to play his way back into game shape when he starts back in December, I don't expect to see a 100% Rubio until late Feb at the earliest.

well, statistically, Roy in 2009 was with Wade last year, and both were well ahead of Kobe. Not that I am trying to open up a can here, but Kobe is not the best SG in the NBA anymore, fact. But how can anyone expect someone with a gillion games on his knees to stay at that level forever?
